Porsche Timepiece Program Now Available in America!
Porsche Timepieces offer stunning designs and unprecedented customization options for owners and enthusiasts.
While cell phones may provide the same time-telling service that a dedicated chronograph can, there’s no substitute for the real thing. Fortunately, watches haven’t fallen out of favor. Porsche developed their Timepiece program in recognition of the unique stylistic properties of a fashionable watch. Additionally, Porsche engineered the Timepiece experience around the 911 ordering process. In terms of customization and overall aesthetics, the initiative will give owners the ability to build a custom watch as substantial as the cars they drive.
With Porsche Design leading the way on the official Timepiece program, individualization is paramount to the experience. A highly specialized web site enables prospective Timepiece owners to build exactly what they want. Similarly, they can explore every option available to them. Configurations are thoroughly rendered in extremely high detail and are based on the corresponding CAD data of the watch. More than 1.5 million build options enable prospective owners the ability to create a watch that’s as unique as they are.
Truly Unique Timepiece for Porsche
Porsche Design developed a watch with extremely high standards. The Timepiece, designed in-house, features a COSC-certified winding rotor. It features several wheel designs from the current Porsche 911 too. That inclusion is a Porsche Design first. Six different rotor types are available. Even the colors along the rotor edge are customizable. For the watchband, there are 300 possible configurations. Fortunately, 3 sizes are available. Lightweight titanium metal bracelets ensure owners won’t aggravate their skin.
Materials included in the 911 have also made their way onto the Timepiece. Porsche used the same hides for the leather seats found in their cars for the leather straps. Additionally, all 14 interior color options for the 911 are available for the Timepiece. Complimenting those pieces are the dial and bezel. Both are fully customizable. The dial received F.A. Porsche inspired minute markers that mimic the look of classic speedometers from vintage models. As for the bezel, buyers are able to choose from traditional minute markers or a tachymeter.

Serious Personalization
However, Porsche also designed other personalization options for Timepiece shoppers. The online configurator launches the watch-building process with options for choosing the 42mm case. A glass bead-blasted natural titanium case or a black titanium case coated in titanium carbide are the two options available for customers. Additionally, Porsche allows buyers to individualize their purchase with laser engraving. Similarly, the same engraving can be applied to the case itself, an option exclusive to the new watches. Moreover, Porsche even lets watch shoppers apply car related fonts, graphic logos, or visuals to the case as well.
Pricing for the Timepiece starts at $6,000. As a result of complete customization, that initial figure can extended to about $12,500. Transactions will ultimately take place via Porsche dealerships on an exclusive basis. Basically, the online configurator creates a code for buyers to send to their selected Porsche dealer. After that, they’ll have to wait 8 to 12 weeks for delivery.
“For more than 30 years now, Porsche customers have been able to enhance their personal dream car with many individual details through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur – right up to an absolute one-off vehicle,” says Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO, Porsche Cars North America, Inc. “This experience has now been expanded with the ability to design a Porsche Design chronograph based on an individual’s unique personal taste or Porsche car configuration. It’s an experience that ultimately ends with the customer taking ownership of a Porsche masterpiece they designed themselves.”
The Porsche Timepiece online configurator tool is live as of today, as is the entire program itself. In addition to the 911, Porsche will eventually release customization options centered around their other models. Overall, this seems like a pretty stellar experience for a Porsche owners looking to enhance their wardrobe.
