There are very few things you can accomplish in under three seconds. But if you have a 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S, you can accomplish zero to 60.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo models are currently making their big debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and one of the big selling points is that the 911 Turbo S can scurry to 60 in just 2.9 seconds. Faster than it takes you to blow your nose, if you’re doing it right.

With 580 hp, the new Turbo S is the first model of its kind to ever break the 3-second barrier. According to Forbes: “The secret to the latest 911 models’s increased power output is newly designed turbochargers, said Porsche chairmain Oliver Blume.”

With those new designs, the 2017 Turbos, the top of the 911 line, both make 20 more HP than their previous counterparts. The 911 Turbo will get 540 hp out of that brilliant 3.8 liter twin-turbo six. The 911 Turbo S will now make a whopping 580 horsies, in no small part due to the new turbochargers sporting larger impelle. The new S also makes 30 more lb.-ft. of torque for 553, and redlines higher, at 72000 rpm versus 7000.

So there’s that to look forward to.
