Just cannot see any future for the NA engine as this rate of progress.

580 hp. Keep it pointed straight and nail it. Millennium Falcon goes hyperspace.

0-60... 2.8s

May I just remind us all that's only 0.2s slower than the 918....

And you can bet it's faster than that. Porsche always quotes conservative times. Car and Driver has clocked the current car at 2.5 seconds to 60...

All that said, useless and insane. In a good way.

Numbers like this fail to impress me since you can get those pretty easily in a 996 turbo with a $700 flash.

Not saying it's not an outrageous car because I'm sure it is, but those numbers are probably a small part of it

...but isn't it a shame there won't be the linear high revving immediacy of an NA option?

I'm sure it'll be mega quick and good/refined....used to be a big fan, but I haven't liked the 911Turbo since the 997.1TT finished production

Also heard Porsche threw in the towel, moving the engine forward in racing. Going to be mid engine 911 and they are not going to race the gt3 engine.

IMHO, Porsche decided they are killing off the 911 when the 991 came out, electric steering, weird 7speed manuals/no manual GT's, unproven/not-raced engines, 'throw-away' AL tubs, etc...they are fast/refined, but they are making the Boxster/Cayman the enthusiast car now.

Yup, my 1st pic for a modern Porsche would be a manual Cayman GT4 or GTS.
