Remember the first time you saw a Porsche Panamera, way back in 2009?

If you’re like many change-fearing auto journalists, you may have found the new model a bit off-putting, especially after hearing about the new model for a couple of years as Porsche expanded their operations in Leipzig, Germany to accommodate the new car.

And then when it finally dropped, the Panamera looked… well, different. It was a premium sports car, but it was also a luxury saloon. So to many, it was something that could only be defined as “other.” And we all know how “other” scares folks.

Well, seven years later, Porsche couldn’t care less what the naysayers had to say, because the Panamera is here to stay, at least for the duration of a hotly-anticipated second generation. But before we celebrate the new, the crew at Leipzig had to properly say goodbye to the old.

Here you see the final example of the first-generation Panamera rolling off the assembly line at the Leipzig plant. And judging by the proud looks on the faces of those responsible for building such an other-level automobile, you can see just how much of an accomplishment that is.
