This person reportedly gathered items from the scene of the crash, and is now selling those Carrera GT parts for $75k.

As most every automotive enthusiast is already well aware, actor, collector, and all-around car nut Paul Walker tragically passed away when a Porsche Carrera GT driven by his friend Roger Rodas crashed while traveling at speeds of around 100 mph. A beloved figure in the car world and a known philanthropist, Walker’s death still stings to this day, to the point where many have gone so far as to blame the Carrera GT itself for this particular crash. While we won’t exactly find a consensus on that particular topic, we can all agree that selling parts from this crashed car is in bad taste – particular when one uses Walker’s name to try and profit from that venture – but it’s precisely what happened recently in the form of a now-defunct Craigslist ad.

According to Jalopnik, the listing was for a piece of the headlight assembly and various other parts that the seller claims came from the same Carrera GT that Walker and Rodas were riding in, with an exorbitant price tag of $75,000. “These items were all personally recovered from the crash site by me on the night the accident happened,” the post read. “All items were picked up after the police allowed the general public access to the area and removed the yellow tape.”

Aside from the headlight piece, the seller also listed items including a piece of the car’s door, a molten rod, and carbon fiber pieces, all of which they apparently scavenged from the precise spot where two people died in a tragic accident. Given the fact that we’ve seen things like this happen before, it doesn’t really come as a huge surprise that someone would stoop so low to make a profit, but it’s still in horrifically bad taste, nonetheless.

Of course, this person wasn’t the only one that removed items from the scene of this horrific accident, as another young man was actually arrested after stealing one of the roof panels on the Carrera GT while it was being towed away from the crash scene. He was caught after posting a photo of the item on Instagram, after which police arrested him for tampering with evidence and grand theft, proving that even in this beloved hobby of ours, poor taste still abounds.
