Red wire across firewall.

Red wire across firewall.
Hi everyone.
looking for some help please, I have just put my engine back in the car and spotted a wire that needs connecting, but where is the answer?
It's the red wire that comes out from underneath the steering wheel and then across the firewall and just hanging underneath. Any help would be welcome. Thank you!

The red wire does not appear to be a factory wire so you will need to trace where it goes to determine what it is for.
Noted "86" on the fuel hose in the photo. If that is a date code, the hose should be replaced.

As Gage said, before you go any further, replace all your engine side (from the fenderwall forward) fuel lines (we cannot stress this enough). Many cars have been lost to engine fires and these lines are almost always to blame.
There are many threads on how to do this and many aftermarket (or OEM) options for replacing.
The wire appears to continue through the firewall into the interior of the car (likely where it meets the "potential" aftermarket alarm module). Time to start looking under the dash/behind the glovebox to see if you can spot where it comes in and where it goes to.

I am only familiar with left hand drive versions but wondering if the black plastic cylinder could be a battery access point (jump or charging post) located at the cowl compartment that would house the battery of a left hand drive car.
