Emory’s bespoke Porsche 356 open top roadster brings the past and present together in tour de force build.

Emory Motorsports has been behind the some of the most exciting Porsches we’ve ever seen. With a refined eye for detail, and meticulous workmanship; owner Rob Emory’s Outlaws and special builds are made with pure Porsche passion. And they are captivating. Thrills are even more amplified in Emory’s newest project: The 1962 Porsche 356 Special Roadster. It is–quite simply–perfection.

The 356 Special Roadster incorporates Porsche’s motorsport history with a restrained, elegant, and bold aesthetic.

Unparalleled Design

As expected, the 1962 Emory Special Roadster has a one-of-its-kind design. Visually, their signature stripped-down style is made all the more appealing with effective vintage details. Even the most staunch Porsche purist will feel their heartbeat rising.

Building a car this remarkable is a long process. “Each car has a unique back story and properly restoring each 356’s underpinnings requires the patience of skilled craftspeople who have learned the specialized art of car restoration,” Emory says on their website.

Once the team secures the donor car, they strip it down and begin rebuilding and restoring. Upgrades and mods are made to the chassis, body, engine, tech, interior, and pro-paint work.

In addition to the raw and refined looks, it has the performance. Like all Emory creations, the 356 comes with an Emory-Rothsport Outlaw-4 custom-built engine.

The rear-engined 356 Special engine is built from a 964, with a new case and crank to accommodate the smaller four banger. But it has the boost with two Garrett turbos installed to bring on the heat.

Inside and out, the car is restored and rebuilt with many upgrades.

Each modification is purposeful. While the cars retain a bare, pure aesthetic, they do offer sleek details. With period-correct control knob, gauges, and steering wheel, the interior also features custom bucket seats.

We especially love the details; from the mirrors and steering wheel, to the emblems and badging.

Performance is always a priority, and Emory fits the ride on solid, grippy tires.

Ferdinand Porsche designed the 356 to be a fun ride. Yes, the 356 is powerful and endlessly capable; but ultimately it is a pleasure to drive.

The 1962 Emory 356 Special truly embodies that spirit with their sporty, dynamic, and staggeringly beautiful Porsche.
