Corvette-ified Porsche 914 is Blasphemy on Wheels

1973 Porsche 914

Redditor happens upon what once was a 1973 Porsche 914 on Craigslist, declares it ‘most unique thing’ he ever found.

It’s understandable. Some Porsche 914 owners want to give their little mid-engined runabout a bit more power, and perhaps a touch of style that Stuttgart didn’t offer from the factory. A Volkswagen engine’s not as sexy as a Porsche boxer, after all.

This, however, is a bridge too far for us to cross. A Redditor happened upon what once was a 1973 914, but was transformed into a Corvette-914 hybrid that we wished only existed in GTA V.

“I present you the Porsche Chevy Chrysler Corvette,” says Redditor mhowwie. “Definitely the most unique thing I have found.” The 1973 “914-8 GTS” was heavily modified to resemble a C5-era Corvette (with the tail lights to boot) with headlights from a Chrysler 300 (and the mouth of a Chrysler Concorde) grafted into the nose of the car.

Per the now-deleted listing, the 914’s VW motor was replaced with a Chevrolet small block attached to a five-speed manual. The owner wanted $12,000 or a partial trade for the custom 914.

As for what Reddit thinks of it, bolax “was expecting some kind of Frankenstein abortion of a thing,” but like what he sees. H0wcan-Sh3slap, on the other hand, likes the side profile “but the front and rear…whew lad, they need work.” We don’t think you can undo this 914 blasphemy, though. Not without a lot of cash, time, and skill, anyway.
