Default 2011 Hybrid High Pressure Fuel Pump

Hello All!

I need to replace the high pressure fuel pump on my 2011 Cayenne Hybrid. As far as I can tell, the engine is the same 3.0L Supercharged one that is used in the 2011 VW Touareg Hybrid.
Can I use the Touareg HPFP on the Cayenne?

The cayenne's fuel pump only comes from Porsche and the part numbers have no known equivalencies.
Porsche part# 958-110-316-14 for around $900.
I can get a VW Touareg compatible Delphi HM10050 for around $300.

A pump is a pump and as far as I can tell...they should be the same. Any thoughts on this?

The pump works. I just had to move the two flanges and plug to the new unit.

Thanks for the follow-up, Mr. Spiff. So many people post a question, and never come back with their results! Your post here should save someone $600 or more.

An important thing to know is that the Cayenne Hybrid uses the Volkswagen Auto Group EA837 engine, usually branded as the Audi TFSI 3.0 engine. It is always a 2,995cc engine. So next time, you can also look at parts for the Audi CAJA, CAKA, CCBA, or CMUA engines. Installed from the late 00’s to the mid 10’s on many Audis, and of course on our Hybrids.

Well, as much as I would like, replacing the HPFP didn't solve the problem I have been experiencing.
Anyone have any ideas? Vehicle is at the point of dangerous to drive if it stalls in the wrong place.

Current Milage 135K

What has been done:
30k miles ago - Spark plugs
10k miles ago - Brake fluid and hybrid clutch fluid change
7.5k miles ago - New low pressure fuel pump and filter.
1k miles ago - New high pressure fuel pump, Trans fluid and filter
Regular oil changes
Transfer case fluid changed every-other oil change.

Symptoms:
  • Vehicle will shutter from time to time.
  • Vehicle will stall/die while driving at cruising speed (55+ mph) or takeoff speed (0 to 15 mph).
    • Occurs once every 4-5 weeks.
    • Reduced power light comes on, vehicle is not drivable.
    • When vehicle stalls, if I let sit for 2 minutes key out, it will start and run as intended.
  • When operating correctly, active test on fuel pressure, everything seems to be correctly in range.
  • Image from last stall/die
