Armytrix Exhaust Brings 991.2 GT3 to Life

By -

The sound speaks for itself. If you’re a GT3 owner and don’t have at least a catback, don’t sleep any longer on this mod!

Imagine this scenario. You have a beautiful, handcrafted 4.0L flat-six that has a ridiculous 9,000 RPM redline and when you hop in your 991.2 GT3, you can barely hear it. How can one let such an amazing engine be silenced? For posterity Porsche made a very restrictive exhaust system on the 991.2, but as a true enthusiast, it’s only right to let that flat-six breathe a little bit. The stock exhaust has a giant (not to mention heavy) center mounted muffler system which is simply too tame for our tastes.

That’s where the aftermarket steps in. Here we are presenting you a beautiful piece of work by Armytrix, an American exhaust manufacturer. They have been gaining popularity over the last couple of years with their impressive valvetronic systems and the offering they muster for the 991.2 GT3 is no exception. Thanks to Vivid Racing on YouTube, we get to see a little bit of action with this new exhaust installed.

Now this is a catback exhaust, so it does retain the factory headers and catalytic converters. This means that it won’t be ridiculously loud, but definitely enough to get your heartbeat beating fast while plowing through the gears. Fret not, the sound this exhaust makes does 100% justice to the work of art that is that 4.0L engine.

Another pro of this particular system is the fact that it is completely valvetronic. The exhaust has three modes, either quiet, loud, or “smart”, which will adjust the opening and closing of the valves according to how the car is driven. Not to mention that these modes can either be controlled via the supplied key or via Bluetooth through an app on your phone using the supplied OBII dongle.

The exhaust is available in either stainless steel or titanium, for those looking for the maximum weight savings (around 20 pounds). The tips also are either available in burnt titanium or matte black, depending on your preference. Also an extra 20 HP and 20 ft/lbs of torque due to the alleviated backpressure. Sounds like a win-win in our book. We think after hearing the sound of this GT3, you’d be hard pressed not to agree.
