2022 SMC AutoFest Brings Out a Diverse Collection of Amazing Porsches
SMC AutoFest 2022 marked a true return to form for the Porsche extravaganza with a big crowd and lots of cool cars.
Way back in 2007, Jorge Perez founded the Sierra Madre Collection in his garage, a company that has since blossomed into a major seller of Porsche and European automotive parts and accessories. Today, SMC calls Los Angeles, California its home and operates out of a sprawling 15,500 square-foot facility, selling a large number of desirable and hard-to-find parts to the masses, including some from its own line. Each year, however, the parts-seller puts on a big Porsche show called SMC AutoFest, giving owners the chance to show off their rides and scope out its facility. Rennlist was on hand to check out the 2022 SMC AutoFest, and needless to say, it was worth the short trip.
The 2022 SMC AutoFest marks somewhat of a return to normalcy as the last couple of years have seen the pandemic put a big damper on car shows of all sorts. That wasn’t the case at this particular event, however, which saw a rather large crowd of people and Porsches roll in to enjoy a beautiful SoCal “winter” day, all of whom were more than a little bit eager to scope out the vast and diverse array of air-cooled, water-cooled, racing, street-going, stock, restored, and heavily modified machines.
The turnout for this year’s SMC AutoFest was impressive, whether it be because of a pent-up need to get out and enjoy a car show, the beautiful weather, or just the desire to enjoy some good food, fellowship, and scope out SMC’s impressive collection of goodies. There were plenty of vendors on hand selling all sorts of cool stuff as well, while pristine Porsches lined the beautiful tree-filled streets for six hours on this amazing day.
From the oldest 356 to the newest 911, every kind of Porsche imaginable was present and accounted for, though the emphasis was on the air-cooled generation, unsurprisingly. All-in-all, it was a great way to spend the better part of a Thursday, and we certainly look forward to making the SMC AutoFest an annual outing on our personal calendars.
