In addition to its supercar-killing performance, the Australian publication finds that the 911 Turbo is also a great all-rounder.

No one does performance and usability like Porsche. Somehow, the German automaker manages to pack its sports cars with breathtaking performance while making them excellent to use on a regular basis. Australia’s Motor got behind the wheel of a 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo and found the car to be a monster — and they mean it in the best way possible.

The 911 Turbo, which was the magazine’s Performance Car of the Year back in 2014, has received quite a few updates for 2017. The car “has recently been refreshed with more changes than just the 991.2 styling treatment,” says Motor. The changes include, “modified inlet ports, new injector nozzles and higher fuel pressure yield an extra 14 kW (roughly 18.7 horsepower) and 50nM (roughly 36.8 lb-ft of torque).”

Besides having more power, the engine is also smarter. “There’s now a new ‘dynamic boost function’ which aims to improve throttle response – come off the gas aggressively and the engine actually keeps the throttle open but cuts fuel temporarily, so the turbos are still wide awake when you get back on it,” says Motor.

The interior also features some new components, including “the new 360mm steering wheel with the drive modes on a wheel-mounted rotary selector, the new Sport Response quasi-overtaking button, and excellent new infotainment system,” says the outlet. The changes have made the interior feel “a little nicer and fresher,” claims Motor.

Out on the road, the 911 Turbo is an absolute beast. “It is monstrously fast and capable, with outrageous brakes and huge grip,” says the outlet. “For its relatively mature styling, this is a Ferrari and Lamborghini slayer up a twisty road, down a drag strip and on a track.” And while it’s an incredible performer, the 911 Turbo is excellent at doing regular car stuff, as well.

“And yet for all its breathtaking potency and ability, it’s a superb all-rounder whether it’s the commute to work or the track day,” says Motor. Porsche really hit the nail on the head when it engineered the 911 Turbo, as it has supercar performance and can be used every day.
