I did a quick search of the salvage yards in western Canada, with no luck. There was some older models but none that would have the 981/991 cast strut towers. I will keep looking.

I agree its total BS about not being able to buy the part from Porsche.

It’s part number 991 501 477 00G RV (Prime Coated), driver’s side strut mount, part number 11 in this graphic:

If you're serious, don't pull the trigger on getting this part until we exchange some PMs or emails to figure out shipping and $$ for the part. From what I've experienced, Porsche people will think they can get the part for sure, but find out otherwise when the bright light of reality shines on the situation.

Thanks. The body shop I referred to in my post earlier doesn't use any salvage parts in their business, or I'd lean on him to help me find a salvage part. They only use new OEM parts for replacement components.

Just let me know what you want to do.. They have repaired hundreds of GT cars.. If they can't get it.. you're .....and have no paddle.

OK , no paddle, but if costs start climbing to get the part State-Side I can step in and help out a bit, if that would help. PM me if you wish.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Appreciate the offer, I'm working with Viperguy324 to explore obtaining the part from a source he has identified, stay tuned...

Minor update with not much progress... The car is supposedly completely disassembled maybe, and all the parts are in. There are some indexing jigs that are Porsche-model-specific to use with the frame rack to make sure the car and new shock tower mate in exactly the right place. These jigs have been ordered and should show up 'this week'?

I am going to ask that they get the two front shocks/springs set to be equal unloaded length so we can do a corner-weighting and get a sense of how on-the-mark the new part got...

Body shop has all the Porsche frame alignment stuff, and re-assembly should start tomorrow.
