Which is probably why they have a steel plate covering the engine. It is removed in that pic, but visible here -

One is a Mezger and one isn't. One is powering all current Porsche production-based race cars and one isn't.

One catches on fire and ones does not (I think we're all reading the same thread right?)

Note no oil pump right next to the right side cat in the old. Note they did not self-immolate.

So, from now on at all PCA events, 997's must do lead-follow exercises for 991's. That way, when a 991 bursts into flames, the 997 can blow a coolant pipe and put it out. Oh yes, I went there.

That's not true Chris.

991s need to be in front so we don't crash into you when you lose your CLs...

Oh yeah, I went there...

lol... at the rate the 991s are presenting failures for the moment, assuming they don't spontaneously combust, you guys have no chance of running the required mileage on track to lose a CL wheel, haha

Oh yeah, I went there too...

Not true. 991 CL's beefed up considerably. Note: this in no way is an admission by Porsche that the 997 CL's were under-engineered. [sic]

yeah..its all that simple..

New rumor has it the cars currenlty on hold wherever in the world, are getting their engines taken out and being sent back to Stuttgart...as this is a "safety relevant" issue and Porsche does not want their dealers to work on this issue..maybe also an issue of "confidentiality"..

Next week we know more..

991 GT3: what a desaster..cant remember such failure from Porsche in the past..the "second hand market" will "keep this in mind" .- lets talk again in 2-3 years on "used 991 Gt3 prices"..

As much as I like to revel in Porsche's troubles after having disappointed me with their product direction on the GT3, I am appreciative of the early adopters' dedication.
