My project is a rescue of a neglected '79. Yesterday I flushed flushed & bled the brakes and clutch. The fluid from the brakes looked new but smelled a bit old (matched the condition of the pads & rotors .. new with almost zero use). The clutch fluid was black & nasty. Probably hadn't been flushed in many, many years. Clutch pedal feels much crisper now.

Dropped the trans fluid for a scheduled flush and filter change. While I had the pan off I dropped the valve body and lower plate to replace the two filter screens in the lower cover fluid pick-up section where the filter mounts. These are the two Dr. Brown says always have debris and are often collapsed due to hydraulic pressure and the clogging. One looked clean to the eye but the other had some visible debris. Both are changed now and all that is left for tomorrow is to re-fill the trans. I also took the opportunity to remove the rest of the air injection pipe down to the joint at the cats and plug the line with the correct metric hydraulic line cap. Trans should be good for another 2 years of flogging around the Ozarks.

Installed new hatch struts supplied by http://s287999742.e-shop.info/
Now my hatch actually pops open when I pull the release, no more broken fingernails!

Burning Brakes
My 2 exhaust tips touched the rear bumper. Decided to rear muffler linkage and those 2 stainless steelclamps tightened by 2 rrotten bolts. 1 hour with my deemed.
Then I tried to lower tips side keeping the inlet of muffler in the highest possible position. I have blasphemed all the time remaining, about 3 hours. It's still not finished however. What a stupid job.

I finished the stereo install with the amp and cross overs in place. It sounds great and now my 928 feels like a gt and less like a race car. Auto antenna and all.

Replaced Alternator Ventilation Shroud and reconnected external thermometer that I skipped when I reattached driver side mirror a couple of weeks ago.
Minor stuff but the items were on the list. Next up is headlight retractor contact switch refurb and condenser repair.

The slow tune-up continues. Cleaned the ground straps for the battery and the engine; picked up a whole volt (12.8 to 13.9) at the jump post.
Also replaced the air filter. If there was any doubt that "Porsche dealer serviced" is a worthless point when it comes to buying a 928, well, it takes a pretty special dealer tech to install a genuine Porsche filter upside down, given its huge printed "TOP" on the top side.
Next up, upper radiator hose. I'm assuming the same dealership that put the air filter in upside down did this one, and used the pre-32V hose. Which lies on top of the right distributor cap. The heat probably can't be great for the ignition wires, so I'm gonna put in the correct part.

Three Wheelin'
Impromptu valve cover job
I got sick of the peeling paint on the valve cover and oil leak so decided to dive in.
Thanks to advise from ROG100, I am also addressing the oil pins and top tensioner pad. Already stripped the cover on the wire wheel, primered and resprayed the cover to match the intake.
Learned a little 'tip' along the way too with those two, hard to reach bolts next to the Hall Sensor.
Handy little wrench! ^^

Blew the dust of her for the first time in 4 months. Apart from low tyre pressure, she didn't miss a beat.
Everything that worked still does, everything that didn't work still doesn't. I was hoping gremlins had snuck in and fixed the AC. Not to worry, windows down and sunroof open...

I cleaned the starter contacts because it decided not to start again I also bent the top door frame to make the seal work better, and it did. No more whistling above 45 mph .
Next is the oil change before I head up to St.Helena 450 miles north of me for college. It's crazy how fast 2 years goes by.

Removed the clutch shims and drained the old fuel from the tank. Tomorrow to add in the oil, put in fresh fuel, connect the electrical connections, connect a temporary MAF, then start the engine after a 4 year rebuild.

fixed stuck power seat - Deoxit to the rescue!
Getting ready for the concours saturday in Newport, RI. I was cleaning the passenger side seat and rugs etc ...slide seat all the back...clean the front....slide the seat all the way forward...clean the back...then seat does not want to power back!!! nothing!
I had to remove the fire extinguisher, and then crank the seat back. It took about 15 minutes of cranking.
Read how contacts get corroded and can fix with....Deoxit!
Ccame home this afternoon, pullled the switch out as much as possible and sprayed into the small hole under circular **** and 5 minutes later, seat working fine.

Drained and replaced the engine coolant. Blinded myself with antifreeze when I loosened and removed one of the drain block bolts too fast....I was ready on the second one.....
