The 3.6 twin turbo V-6 from Cadillac could be interesting too.

Michael, go electric. Peak torque at 0 rpm and the flattest torque curve around! You'd need a 951 tranny and clutch though for sure.

edit: Actually I wonder if the n/a trans would survive since you wouldn't really be shifting much, you'd just need to find a clutch that wont slip under torque.

No, its really a compact little engine. Doesn't even have exhaust manifolds, just a dump pipe.
The headers are cast INTO the heads..

And yes, having the turbo as close to the exhaust valves (with proper flow characteristics) is paramount to turbo response. It's why I make fun of the stock 944 turbo placement, because it deserves to be made fun of. And don't tell me it's 80's engineering, because Callaway put the turbo in the right place the first time.
i had a rental with that motor, an impala, and it was a sweet motor to drive with. even in the big boat it got up n go'd. even going uphill from san jose into san francisco it was reading 34mpg at 70mph...

Oh awesome, i've thought that the 3.6 @ 300hp was the perfect match for the 944. Just the right amount of power for the chassis for DD detail and still a lot of fun. 400+ hp from the LSx is a bit more than i need for what i do with the car. Though i'll probably end up with a 5.3 when it comes down to it.

if 400 hp is too much then I guess damn near 100 hp more won't cut it.

even a mile above sea level ??

Ha well my real goal is 300hp at the wheels up here if I go v8. The v6 would a fun ride too though.

I've been seriously considering this for my 924s

A 2.0t VW/audi interests me as well.

I just as well ask about the volvo option. What do I need that you can't provide? I assume the stock manifold works.

You got it buddy, with all of its optisparkiness glory...I'm in the phase of getting all the bugs worked out...it's a blast...1st gear is pretty pointless, smokes them if give it more than 40% throttle in 2nd and I have 275s out back with a turbo trans and lsd...pulls HARD well into triple digits too

I'd really like the v12 but I have no idea how it's going to fit.

Count me in on that one. Doug, we're putting a V12 in your car when you blow the motor. My neighbor back in Houston has a 5.3 V12 E-type, been sitting in his garage since the early 90s. I can talk to him about it...

From the measurements I got from Dindale the 1GZ is only 3 in longer than an LS, same width head-wise because it's 60 deg banks and 450 lbs dressed.
Get the Jag dims when you can.

I'm pretty certain a jag engine is as long as the entire engine bay.

Yeah most likely...

35-7/8 inches from rear of flywheel to nose of crankshaft, 26-1/2 from sump to the tops of the induction system, I couldn't find any width measurements...but weight...oh man...over 600lbs. lol! No thanks.

Ill gladly take the 1GZ 450lbs! I could probably get more off of that lighter/less parts. I feel bad for already looking for engines...I need to finish my car first!
