I'll take the quick 50k so I don't have to deal with buying the car or even selling it any day no problem . John just remember me in a year when the car comes out lol.

You can't use europe market for here. Europe market for porsche, ferrari, etc is completely different than the US. In europe ferrari's sell for way more. If you try to ask 400k for a 458 spider people will laugh at you.

Sad fact of this car (which I could never afford, but would in a heartbeat), is it's destined to rot in some beautiful garage, showroom, living room.... This would be the best car at the track. Just imagine the "point and squirt" capability of this thing. GLWS

I kicked around flying out to look at this car in Az. Nice example. Still at $425K I would want to be under $400K. I don't think these cars will really go down in value unless you really beat on it or had bad over revs and good chance this is a $500-$600K or more car way down the road.

Having shopped these for a while now. I agree that the one on this post being Canadian I would not pay anything near $465K for it. Clearly the owner is looking to make a nice return and doesn't care if it sells quickly.

Ultimately after much time I ended up going standard 997 GT2 vs. the RS. Much better deals to be had (under original sticker), just as rare in the US (or maybe even more so) and just as much fun and tuneable to GT2 RS performance for very little cost. Not sure I will tune mine, but I will drive it and plan to keep it 10+ years and expect to own a great car and lose nothing on its value over time and maybe see some nice upside if people start to collect them seriously. I am willing to bet that the next GT2 of any form won't be a stick. If thats the case these will always have a high $$ return.

That must be it...it's $465k Canadian dollars. John just forgot to make that change.

first of all, the car is mine. when we posted the ad, not only did i know it would get hate mail, but i knew exactly which of you characters would be hate authors, because i'm on this forum almost every day. so, John posted the ad; i got popcorn, set back and laughed.

to set a few things straight:

i bought this car for the driving experience; same reason i buy all my cars. i have a zero-option, launch color 4.0 and i picked up this gt2rs as its turbo'd maternal twin. contrary to the crowd that wants deviated stitching and seat massagers, there are a few of us that actually go after the strippers. i prefer buckets, a/c is a must (i live in houston), but aside from that, there's not an option i can't live w/out. i own a few 997gt's. it is my favorite platform by far. i've never been a big turbo guy, but if i were going to own one turbo'd 911, this is it.

in the time i've owned this car, three things have happened: 1) i found that it begs me to drive it faster than anything else i own by a large margin. and, i'm either going to end up in jail or wrapped around a light pole somewhere on a remote twisty houston back road. 2) i have confirmed for the 3rd or 4th time that i'm just not a big turbo guy. 3) values on these things have moved up almost as quick as the car is. i think this thing would be insanely fun on a track, but i don't have the ***** to track a car with the combination of its widow-maker personality and collector price-tag.....even if that price-tag was my asking in CAD!

once i started to consider this car wasn't a permanent addition to my collection, i noticed a few WTB ads pop up for gt2rs. i answered those WTB ads and i was shocked with the price levels that came back. and, i was shocked where 2-3 actually did trade hands recently. initially, i passed because i wasn't 100% committed to letting it go, regardless of price. i've learned these used gt's are not commodities. when you find a completely unmolested, zero-blemish, zero-track-time, clean dme example, they are very hard to get back once you sell them.

as far as this ad, we didn't even discuss the asking price. i trust the boys at PNH know how to move cars and i'm paying them to handle it. they know where i walk away. we'll see if someone has interest in between. if not, the car will go back under a blanket next to a few of its NA brethren. and if any of you are ever in the houston area, i'll be happy to take it out on a sunday drive with you (especially if you were one of the haters ). i drive every car i own or it gets sold.

i'm going to step back into the background with my popcorn and let John and the rest of the PNH boys earn their money. in my experience, they have been a phenomenal P-car dealership to do business with. keep the hate posts coming; they are great unsolicited "bumps".

I would love to know what it actually sells for, if it sells because I bet it is somewhere less than $100k of the asking.

Well written. I personally love the option list. My 4.0 is specced exactly the same way. Just like you I'm not a turbo guy.
I love the look of my 993tt but will probably trade it for a nice backdate 73rs one day.
GLWS.

Nice post Jrtaylor...agreed the boys from PNH do a fine job. Have met the owner and he knows what he's doing. Probably why he just picked up his 3rd Porsche store.

I think this car will do in the 400's...I forwarded the ad to a friend in NYC that's in the market. GLWS

The market will decide what price is right. Have you all noticed that the collector car market seems to have lots of sellers of long term collections recently.
Does correlate to the stock market or the art market ????????
