Part of me doesn't want to worry about accident history (if repaired well) or mileage as I'm going to put 7-10k miles a year on it anyhow and drive the snot out of it.
But that DME report has me confused. 36mph average doesn't necessarily scream track car to me, but it has more type 1's than my 04 GT3 which has almost the same mileage as this car and spends a good portion of it's time at the track. That's not even to mention the Type 2's and 3's.
Does it have an aftermarket flash with raised rev limit? I guess that would help explain those counts but still seems like an overwhelming amount of time spent in the upper RPM range.
Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I just wanted everyone to be able to see how the ranges report differently from car to car to get a better understanding of how these work. (For those that don't know)
The 997 Turbo and GT2's rev at a lot lower rpm's than a GT3 and thus show more over revs when driven in the same manner.

What does "confirm" mean on there? Were the cars all different?
Ranges reset on turbo cars due to different internals - stress goes with the square of RPM

Range one is still the rev limiter regardless of what RPM that is...I'm in the camp of people who don't mind range 1's at all. However, Range 2 and above all represent mechanical over-revs no matter what the car which shouldn't be able to be achieved by just running the car to redline. Only exception I've seen in turbos is cars flashed with higher rev limiter which is why I'm curious if this car is or was flashed.

I'm going to go with not flashed at this time but will have a tech look at it closer on Monday because this will obviously come up and is a great question.
Another question out of curiosity. Does PNH (or any Dealer for that matter), buy, or take on trade, cars with accident history and no documentation? Or without running a DME report?
This question is not intended to be a reflection on the car, or the Dealer, as honestly, I think JWrightPNH puts some GREAT cars up, and comes across as a class act in my opinion. I wouldn't hesitate buying a car from him or PNH for a second. And I think whoever buys this GT2 will be grinning for a VERY long time! Just more wondering about the process that you go through when taking on cars for sale.
Thanks, and I apologize if this is the wrong forum/thread for that question.
just curious...do over-rev's preclude certification (nevermind the accident)?
Yes.

All the time. They will typically check the Carfax and do a visual inspection +/- use a paint meter. I've never seen a DME scan done pre-trade.
I wonder if it is possible to get a Fidelity or similar warranty on a car like this?
Are you asking bc of the accident history, the rev report, or both?
Not that I know from personal experience, but I they warranty GT3s (or at least they have, based on posts here), some of which I'm sure have had their share of redlining and bruising.
You can buy just about anything... for the right price.

65535 is the maximum on the over-rev counter in this revision of DME which is why it is not have any more type 1's....
