It is true that Tesla owners have tolerated sub standard quality, a price that many early adopters seemed willing to be accept in order to access the technology. The next wave of buyers will not be so forgiving.

I don't see how the layoffs have anything to do with a reluctance to change (or arrogance for that matter).
I know for myself, the competition has a loooonnnnggg way to go to catch up to the overall package of price, features, software reliability, and charging network. Even with some shortcomings at Tesla, almost every other EV maker requires you to compromise somewhere, often in a big way. I am usually pretty particular about my cars and I’ve had no issues with my Plaid, so I would likely be a repeat buyer for Tesla, unless something else blows me away regarding that list of considerations.

This.

We're all Porsche enthusiasts here and mainly 911 guys. So were are sticklers for quality and things simply just working and doing it well. With that said, EV is Tesla's domain, period. Throw me into the crowd of I do not care about quality and short comming form tesla because they still do the EV thing best as they're purely software and tesla has the best software bar none.

Is it a low quality **** box? Yup, you bet. But it does what it's supposed to do best. Taycans and their pricing mainly are a deal breaker along with a myriad of other issues it has.

If tesla made an ICE car, I'd avoid it like it was the ebola virus.

For many consumers looking for a new car, EV = Tesla. Switching to an EV is already a leap of faith so there’s a natural draw towards what is already widespread and proven.

Agreed. If the Taycan price was the same as the Plaid, with the same performance and features and charging network, I’d obviously get it. Until those factors are equalized, I think Tesla keeps their lead. I mean - Lucid seems like a better car overall too, but still - they sold 9k cars last year. Why? Price, charging network, and software.

if a chicken was a duck....
the porsche is a superior car than any tesla regardless of 0-60 times.
if pricing is your concern a bolt euv is your best bet

Re; Lucid, in many ways the lucid is a better car than both the taycan and the plaid but nothing can compare to the drive that the taycan has.

Price, charging network, and software - kinda like I said repeatedly. Add in range on the Taycan and that’s another plus for the Tesla. I don’t dispute the Taycan is a great car and I am obviously a Porsche guy and have been for years. Still - you are accepting compromises on those issues without a doubt.

Default NACS

Will the ‘25 Taycan have a NACS port as I believe had been reported at one point?

What about the Macan. I see no information about the connection type on the website, but I do see that the ports have been move to the rear which will make using Tesla chargers easier.

I read yesterday that they will have NACS starting in 2025 and will have an adapter until they make the switch. This was in WSJ review this weekend.

Yes. That is what I also understood. Aren’t the new Taycan and the Macan considered ‘25 model year?

My '25 Turbo GT is a June build so they'll be making the switch very soon. I hope.

Default Tesla superchargers in California now available for all electric vehicles

This article caught my eye this morning. Is this done by using an adapter? The article doesn’t mention anything about the technical aspect. Any insights, Taycan owners?

It may be irrelevant that the Taycan (and others) will have compatibility with NACS since Elon today has laid off the entire Supercharger team at Tesla.

Confirmed via multiple sources including the NYT that Musk has fired all of the S/C team:

This is what happens when government and auto manufacturers give the keys to our National DCFC network to a Sociopath. ******* ridiculous!

The National DCFC network is actually EA. (more’s the pity)

Tesla’s Supercharger network is what the sociopath and his company built for his company’s cars…

Just sayin’…
