Driver skill aside (I consulted a coach for a few laps yesterday btw) I think it goes to show how complete a package these cars are, and how Porsche is genius at incremental changes to make significantly different products.

In short you cant always replicate the improvements they make to "special" Porsche cars in the aftermarket, theres always gonna be something missing.
Awesome pics! Your comment about duplicating a cars capabilities with aftermarket I think is very true with certain cars. The one thing that really stands out to me with the 987 Spyder is the fact that the roof is pretty much non existent. Doing this lowers the center of gravity on the car which I'm sure has a significant impact on the cars handling and capabilities. That aspect of the Spyder can not be duplicated with aftermarket without spending a significant amount.

Great shots there. Thanks for posting along with your feedback. Chuckwalla is a fantastic. Glad you are showing the track folks just how good these cars are "right out of the box." There is very little you can do to these, that the factory has not already done, to make them faster, quicker etc.

Default Spyder - GT3 RS -Cayman s

Heres a couple laps around Chuckwalla in the 987 Spyder. Not quite enough for the 16 GT3 RS, but I still think I'm competitive in the corners. The Cayman S is quite a car which made for some entertaining chase laps.

Maybe it's not healthy to be in love with an inanimate object, but I can't help myself.

Default Nothing But Blue Skies . . .

It was a glorious T-shirt and top-down day in So Cal with temps in the mid 70s.

Blew off work early and headed for the canyons.

It's Modjeska Grade Road in Modjeska Canyon, one of three canyons in Orange County (Trabuco Canyon and Silverado Canyon being the other two) that sort of border the Cleveland National Forest.

While our canyon roads pale in comparison to Ortega Highway to the south or Angeles Crest to the north, they're still pretty nice and just a few minutes from the suburban sprawl that is Orange County .

Sometimes I take her out on the town and risk parking her in the street.. that's what cars are for right?..
but then, as I walk away I have to turn around and stare... and then I'm late for dinner.

I know I should chill out more, but I'm afraid I could never relax and enjoy my dinner if I knew some clueless clown was parked THAT close to my front bumper!!

I carry chocks around with me and place them behind the wheels of cars parked around me. Then I leave handwritten letters on windshields of cars within 100 feet of mine letting them know they need to be careful. Then I pay all the homeless people standing around $20 to guard it. I'm considering just having the car placed on a. Raised platform when I go out to dinner also.

Or... I can just enjoy the car as it was meant to be enjoyed... simply by using it.
