Masking- very careful masking of tires.. Ideally playing cards work well placed fan-style in between the rim and tire. Obviously remove the center caps.
The website does a good job of explaining how you start first few coats with minimal overlap, then progressing to more and more overlap with later coats.
Before driving you need to let the car sit for 8 hours.. Also don't be too hasty to reattach the wheels because If you nick the wheel with the bolt before it's truly dry.. The paint "rips" and shrivels like water ballon skin... Ask me how I know.
Once it's cured, it acts like paint... When you're tired of it, you literally just peel the stuff off like stretchy latex.
I used the recommended 4 cans of base and 6 cans of paint. My total was $170

First mod was LED clear corners... next one are Rennline hub studs- makes taking wheels on and off so much easier... never sure why Porsche went to the damned bolts to hold on the wheels. Now it's like my old AC'ed P cars!

I've got the same cover for my Spyder but labored over whether to get it because I had this same indoor cover for my prior Boxster S and it always left lint on the canvas top. I decided to get it anyway for the Spyder because otherwise the quality is pretty high and the fit is awesome. Just wish it didn't leave lint. Maybe after washing the cover a few times that issue will go away. Not a huge deal.

I think the bolts make it easier to use/swap spacers. That said, I also prefer hub studs.

Just put on the Rennline hub studs- cleaned and waxed the wheels and brake calipers... I know, it's a sickness.
While I was doing that my SIL stopped by and wondered what I was doing... doubt she's ever cleaned the wheels on her Honda hybrid

This is the only thing that bothers me on my Spyder.
Did you notice how Porsche managed to fit a wheel that's 0.5" wider than the Boxster GTS's rear wheel, but kept the same tire width? Look how stretched the tire sits on the rim.
I really don't understand why they did this. It looks like sh**

Studs are much easier, although they must be long enough for correct engagement with spacers.

Just received this picture of my new valvetronic exhaust before it goes into its packaging for shipping. Fabspeed is just another level in customer service and Making you feel like a $100k customer when all you bought was a lowly exhaust. #customerforlife

Please post your impressions of the sound. I'm still on the fence about doing the whole GT450 package or doing everything but the exhaust. I think the stock exhaust sounds great.

I agree. I cannot say enough good things about Fabspeed. They are real enthusiasts, very customer centric and their products are top quality. I loved their maxflow exhaust it sounded great and I definitely felt it gave my 981S extra kick. Either that or in 2013 Porsche gave the 981S Boxster some extra HPs. I plan on buying the racing headers from them for my Spdyer. They are first rate all the way.

Considering buying a set of 991 narrow body Carrara wheels in platinum satin for my spyder
20x8.5 offset 51 mm front
20x11 offset 70 mm rear
My question is two parts, first if I stay w stock size tires would I need spacers if so what size
Or if go with 245/35/20 n 295/30/20 what size spacers would I need
And would you go with the wider tire ?
Please help

Alex and Steve, thank you so much for the kind words! I cannot express how happy I am coming to work every day and being able to chat with passionate owners such as yourselves. I have fallen in love with this community, so much so that (as you both already know haha) tomorrow I will join this forum as the owner of a Cayman R. Let the chaos begin! lol
Congrats on the Cayman. I hope to be by your shop before the end of the year.
