Spyder / Cayman R Owners, Would You Sell to Buy a 981?
Simple question, would you consider selling to get the 981?
I know the question is a bit premature since the 981 isn't yet available and no one has driven it with exception to the motoring press.
What's your take on the 981?

Not for me.
I don't care for the looks, although the Boxster does look better than the current version.
Also, I would need to see if they fixed the overheating issue with the PDK cars first. And I would need to check out the steering first hand - seems to be the most problematic 'upgrade'.
And, the Cayman S would need at least 350hp for me to consider it.
So, no.

I would think those who have the spyder or R and are happy with their cars would have no reason to trade on the 981. It is a more valid question to the owners of Boxsters and S and Caymans. New car looks better is faster and better handling than the regular 987s. But the spyders and Rs are unique lookers and performers. The only person I could see changing is someone who needs the one button power top on the new 981.

Spyders are so rare, 981 will be 10 a penny.

I honestly hope they don't make a 981 Spyder. With that being said, I would possible consider a 981 Spyder if they do make one, but definitely no way for trading the 987 Spyder for a 981 base or S.

The Spyder is a keeper and I could not be happier with the Cayman after some improvements were made. The new cars (981, 991) may be nice but they are moving away from the 'sports car" and into more GT car arena
