Thanks all.
I wanted the ABM colour after looking at Eduardo's spyder and various other Porsches. It shows off curves very well (which works a treat on the spyder) because the colour change can be quite dramatic under different lighting conditions.
I got a fantastic deal on the CR (considering it was spec.ed to order) and I kept it as simple and as "poverty" spec as I could get away with.
ONly Bixenons, PSE, shortshifter, alcantara steering wheel, bluetooth, CDR-30, climate control and the LiON battery.
I think I do feel a pang of regret on not ordering PCCBs, but that would have pushed up the cost and I really wanted to keep it cheap.
Given how 991s are more GT than sports cars, I am indeed glad to order a true drivers car. It will be interesting when I have to sell one of them.............

It's the sealing. Because the sealing is so good in a Cayman (apparently), closing the rear trunk can generate positive pressure in the cabin making closing a bigger effort than necessary. if the windows wind down slightly, positive cabin pressure will not be generated. Note. I am only repeating what I have heard, I do not have first hand experience re this.
Eduardo, your spyder is beautiful, red works so well with blue. I almost did it for my CR even without looking at your thread. In the end, the cost and my wife talked me out of it and I spent my budget on the PSE and short shifter instead as well as bixenons and AC. I love your sun visors. that is the 1 part i wished I had known could be optioned in Alcantara in my spyder.

It's also because the rear hatch is so danged big! It's not just the effort to close the door, but the eardrums of the passenger inside that make the auto-open of the passenger's window such a good idea!
My '06 Cayman S has this feature too and I like it. A lot of people try to program this off, but for me, it's just fine.

Cool, I thought you sold the Spyder and bought the R. What a great car combo!
You will definitely have to post a comparison of the two cars once you have had some time behind the wheel of the R.

From what I remember, the battery is a simple drop in since the base dimensions are the same. I plan on installing one when my lead acid dies on me.

so I took delivery of the CR yesterday.
The saga of the LiON battery continues. Apparently, Porsche Uk will not fit it for me if I do not sign a disclaimer, meaning that if the battery catches fire for some reason, as LiOn batteries are known to do, Porsche will not be responsible.
In reality, when you buy the LiON battery, it is not fitted and is delivered to you in a box with the standard battery already in the car. So, the decision and hence risk is yours. In any case, I have been informed that it is PNP by the dealer so Afshin, you are correct and I was previously worried for nothing.
with that aside, I wasn't about to let my day be ruined by LiON batteries , so without further ado........

Absolutely stunning!
It looks like you had some nice weather for delivery day too.
Please post your impressions and comparison to the Spyder when you have put some miles on the car.
Enjoy in good health.
