Those cars looks awesome! Thanks for the post!
I am really, really tempted by this car, and it is time to buy a new DD for the summer... Plan to call the dealer on Mondya to assess the waitlist...

Just curious, the top, is there a second piece that goes in the back? Any detailed photos of how weather tight or not the car is?

White with Red interior and black wheels for me. Nice!
Surely this will be my next car.

The top piece is rated at 125mph, while the back piece for inclement weather is rated at 100mph. Top speed without the roof is 166mph. Porsche specifically states no auto car washes due to the roof design. It is held on by tension and auto washes can mess that up.
Here are my pics from the show:

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder Road Test Video
Pretty good video showing Black on Red. Sounds like they love it!

roll bar color
Does anyone know what color the roll bars are on the spyder for a white car? I know there is an option to have them painted exterior color...

All Boxster Spyders come standard with Black Roll Bars... unless you get the "Roll Bar Painted in Exterior Color" Exclusive option, which will set you back another $535.00.

I'm confused about how to spec one out. I want to keep it as light as possible so don't need radio, A/C. I will order a 6 speed manual. I want the sport exhaust but not sport chrono. If you don't have sport chrono, is the sport exhaust always in the loud mode? Without sport button, you lose the sharper throttle response also. They should have the sport button standard in the Boxster Spyder. Maybe someone can clarify these options.

Unless you specify that you want AC and radio it comes without. Have you gone to a dealer to spec one out or used the configurator on the Porsche web site? If you don't get the sport chrono you do lose the sharper throttle response as you noted. With respect to the exhaust I would only expect it to open up after passing a certain rpm, I would not expect it to be open all the time...you can also order the sport shifter...as I understand it even though it is not a limited edition car the allocations to the dealer network are a little on the thin side...dealer in my area was allocated 3 and all are spoken for ...
