Doesn't greg have spacers to make use of the later injectors?

Not really sure what my options are here? I know I need the low impedance ones.
I know www.fiveomotorsport.com claims to have ones that are the correct low impedance;

I believe 928Motorsports does too, and if possible I'd like to support a 928 specialist.
The existing injectors look pretty awful, not sure they will clean up OK.

Socal_Tom, listen to BC.
Greg Brown has machined adapters that let you use better, readily available later fuel injectors in place of your obsolete, hard to find injectors.

You mentioned looking forward to miles of touring, and doing it right. This is how you do it right.

Edit - could someone please confirm that a low impedance system can drive high impedance injectors?

Read the linked thread.
First post:
These handy little adapters will adapt Bosch Type 2 (high impedance) injectors into the 1980-1984 USA vehicles and the European 1984-1986 engines.

Good morning Joe, thanks for the follow-up. I had read some conflicting material via searching but think I understand it now. Obviously Greg knows what he is doing, so there is that too. Grin.
I'll go see him today and pick these up.
Is there a specific later Bosch injector that people like to use with these?
I also wanted to ask about how best to clean up the fuel rails? Sandblast and then clean, clean, clean and then clean some more and then paint once everything is off the rails?
Thanks!

I would avoid sandblasting the rails. You don't want to risk getting any media inside even if you tape off the openings. Just not worth it. Steel wool pad soaked in some simple green or equivalent and some elbow grease worked for me on the outside. It will remove some of the yellow zinc plating (if you have any left). If you are ultimately going for factory look you will want to get them re-plated. As for the inside I let mine soak in ATF overnight. Drain and then used a twisted wire tube brush on the inside to dislodge any old varnish. Repeated this one more time then used carb cleaner as a final rinse.

I have access to a parts washer but if there is still risk of debris then I'll skip that and proceed as you have suggested.
Thanks, and good morning BTW.

Parts washer would be good. Let the rails soak and keep the pump running to agitate the solution. That will definitely loosen and remove the varnish. The plating will suffer, but I think you are past that point.
As for injector suggestions, see what Greg says when you look at the adapters.

Could someone please confirm that the injection harness is best removed by pulling it all into the cockpit? That is to say it is best to pull the engine wiring back through the firewall towards the fuse box.
Any tips on dealing with the grommet?
Thanks!

Pull the harness off the engine and lay it over the passenger fender, no need to remove it from the car unless you are doing major repair to it.
If so, you pull it all forward of the firewall and out.

Good morning - thanks for the note. I have determined my injection harness is inhabited by evil spirits (that, or it has more than one short) and must be removed.
So the connector comes out through the engine bay then?

Yes pull it through from the engine side. It's a tight fit so you'll have to wiggle it through slowly and gently. A partner on the inside is helpful to angle the plugs and guide it through

Thanks - may have to ask the 10 yr old rather than dog for assistance on that one unless I can offer someone local a cold Xingu.
Side note - happy to help other local 928 owners if an extra set of hands is useful as part of your restoration work. I have taken part in a several barn raising sort of things with the TRs, 911 and the 912 and they were both productive and a good time for all. Might post that as a separate topic here to see if he local community does that sort of thing.
