hahahaha.
a 'not so subtle hint/ suggestion but Thanks Bill !

And so do I.

I did say a couple of posts earlier that out of respect to the poster, I wouldn't post any pics, but since you brought it up.......

the rest of the story may be read on a forum topic I started here on "Documenting a 28,000 mile Sport Touring Optioned 944 " you can read more there if desired.

Here are a few from last year when picking it up and prepping it for the next showing. The earlier date stamped photos are taken the day I drove it home and next to his award winning Corvette Convertible in all original condition.
Billings, Mt. near the historic downtown 'NORTHERN HOTEL'

NONE of this interior is replaced or showing any wear. It is an all original, top point awarded show car and has been since day one. No inclement weather ever. No snow, no rain, no outside parking .... those tenets speak for themselves on survivability status

And,
since it currently isn't for sale,
and Joe's may be.....

go take a look at his beauty. Cars of this stature aren't everywhere. They turn up every now and then and don't last long on the market. I don't think you would be disappointed.

And Joe: BEST wishes with your red vixen. May she always be held dear to your heart, even if no longer in your garage.

Take care guys !

Thought I would stop by this thread and say a quick hello. I have been following the thread since I sold the 944 (lurking). It's so nice to see that there are now over 42,500 views of this thread since my original post in 2015.

AlfaGTA has done a great job of perfecting the condition of our very special 944. Its also nice to see how the values of 944's have spiked since the sale of my car.

I know for certain that AlfaGTA has done more to the 944 than I could've or would've done given my work/family time constraints.

More importantly, AlfaGTA and I have developed a very nice friendship and he was very helpful in assisting me with my 991.2 GT3 (manual) configuration. I have a November 2017 build date, but I am told that Porsche may delay the build because I have requested a paint to sample color. So, lets see.

I will continue to follow this thread and everyone's 944 adventures. I have thought about searching for a 944 "driver", but my work/life realty has not changed since when I sold the 944. I.e. I don't have the time for a casual cruise in a vintage car. With young children, my daily driver is my Porsche (currently 997.2 GTS, soon to be my 991.2 GT3) and my weekend car is still my minivan or my F150.

Cheers to all

I will stop by periodically to say hello. Thanks for keeping the thread alive.

Write-up and more pictures of the car by Randy Wells just appeared in Road Scholars e-zine:

http://roadscholars.com/original-370...3-porsche-944/

It's been picked up and will be on the way to Spokane, WA, shortly. Hope to see some of you there. Please introduce yourself if you see us (944 and me) at the Parade.

Nice little article.
Like others I'm excited to see it at Parade.
My Porsche ownership began with an '83 944 followed by an '84 and I have a special fondness for the early 944s.

Randy did a great job writing about and photographing that car for you !

Wish I could be there to see it on the lawn at Parade. This has been a really fun read to follow and a tremendous source of inspiration for many. I wish you all the very best on it's big day Bill !

Some day I hope to have the privilege to share a space next to you on the grass. And, if you're ever in my part of the world, an open door awaits ~~~

Yup beautiful 944. Sapphire Metallic is my favorite color for these cars bar none. This reminds me of a mint low mileage (40k) Sapphire 84 that popped up at a Toyota dealership by my house about 7 years ago for something like $5900.

Definitely toward the top of my 'should have bought but didn't' list

Bill :

Well, today was the day...... how did things go ?
Was rooting for you ! Hope the day was a success and above all, that you had a GREAT time with PCA friends and family.

A REALLY big show isn't it ?

(If you have opportunity to view the excellent video supplied by Porsche Club America and shot by Vu Nguyen, one will see the Sapphire beauty in the 944 group on the hill.
Number 461A.)

Looking Spectacular !

Definitely a learning experience. Judges liked the car but said it should have been in Preparation Class and not Preservation Class. Big discounts for low mileage in the latter group. I had gotten mixed information before the show and ending up deciding to go with Preservation. Anyway, lots of beautiful cars and nice people.

Very nice 944. The color looks just like my 83, which is Zermatt silver metallic LY7Y/LY7Y.

I've been meaning to ask about a paint problem on my 83. About five years ago the passenger door started to show crazing. I took it to a very good shop and was told the paint was cracking all they way thru the clear coat and paint and it could not be buffed out. The crazing has spread on the passenger side and is also now on the drivers door and is spreading. It brought it back to the shop last week and was told the only fix is stripping to bare metal and repainting. It is the original factory paint. Has anyone had or seen this problem? Has anyone found an easier/less costly fix?
