Hopefully tomorrow I can fit the door window frame and the rubber window scraper plus surround. The new paint on the metal surrounds should be hardened enough to do this job.

I'll see if I can get more pictures as I go along

A bit of picture fun with a before during and after photo 👍

A couple of minor areas of corrosion were removed before etch primer was used on the bare metal areas
2k primer applied
This photo was showing a good standard of finish to the door

looking good here,
what is the color called?

I think everyone that owns a 928 should paint one car,
that way they get an opportunity to see how much time and labor is involved.
I painted my 79 and will not ever paint another one.

The colour is Porsche Speed Yellow of which very few 928s were painted

I think there is a thread somewhere saying how many came in this colour which is something like 27 in total

most 928s generally came in sedate colours as they sold well to older more sophisticated buyers, however I take my hat off to those buyers who went in with a different vision and didn't mind standing out and order from the factory

Marti,

Looking good there! No sure speed yellow is y favourite 928 colour- sure looks good on a 993- wil resrve 928 judgement until I see the finished item! Either way the only thing that matters is that you should like it.

I managed to get the window frame on and the door handle fitted. I really don't like fitting the metal window surrounding, hitting frame with a hammer has so many risks of damage

Then there is the terrible job of fitting the window scraper and rubber frame surrounding, that must have driven several workers in the factory mad

when you fit the window scraper the correct way to fit it is to hook the lower inside flap onto the door, to do this you must push the scraper down between the door and the window like in the picture I took, then fit the upper bead of rubber into the window surrounding. If you try and fit off the car onto the window surrounding it will end in failure. Also loosely fit both the scaper and the longer rubber surrounding and concentrate on getting a good fitting at the rear edge of the door as that is the important fitting for spacing. Once set then fit the scaper first then finish the longer rubber surrounding.

Hi Fred, it was pictures of 993's in speed yellow that actually helped convince me to go for the colour as there are not many good pictures around of 928's in speed yellow to assess

So on the strength of how much I liked 993's in the colour I went for it.

I do think that it is a hard colour to make look good on a car. IMHO I think it suits the GTS rear arches and no rubbing strips. I don't think it would go well with a cream interior, another reason that I an also changing the colour of my interior to better compliment the paintwork
