What happens in Vegas...is probably illegal in Texas. As a career Californian, I am ready to deal with this.

 

Yep, two months to D-day. I need to write out some rules/regulations brochure just in case. If someone got a few CB radios they can bring, that would be great too; for cops and in-case someone pulls Mike.

For me from 40 mph, it takes about 5 seconds to start looking at Criminal speeding. So let's all be careful in NV.

For clarification - CB, or FRS (the little family radios they sell everywhere now)?

I also have a couple of handheld ham radios (Yaesu and BaoFeng) that should let us listen in on PD/Highway Patrol frequencies. I'll check the Vegas LEO channels before the trip so we can have a couple of radios listening for 5-0. Phone apps like 5-0 Radio Pro are nearly as good and don't require walking around in public with a ham radio (which should be avoided unless you WANT to lead a life of celibacy and despair).

If you have a scanner app like 5-0 Radio Pro and your car is bluetooth-capable, live audio streaming of LEO updates is pretty reassuring.

No clue about CB or FRS difference. If it works and we can hand them out to a few designated radio cars, I am for it.

Police band radio would be great too.

 

FRS is sold under the Scion name. CB is sold under the Subaru name. Other than that, none.

This is really lame, but I will not be able to attend the 2017 Las Vegas RennDrunk. Even though I started this thread, Kalash gets all the credit. I could make up a bunch of lame excuses, but Mrs. Gonzo has other plans for me that weekend, and the only two words I know is, "Yes Dear".
