The best 911 you can afford today is the best one to buy now. And a better 'best one you can afford' will always be out two years later. But it will only be a little bit better, so you can wait 2 or 4 years to upgrade or wait 6 or even 8 years to buy another and start collecting them.

Sadly nobody has has figured out how to do it better so the game will press on.
Super true - best 911 is what one can afford today. The best way to play this game. Get one now and drive the hell out of it.

I really think the GTS will outsell the S variants this time around. I could see allocations being very tight.

Interesting to see the front spoiler is now black in the middle. And it does not look like it is removable as it is in the 991.1. To me, that is the achilles heel of the 991.1. It is easily scraped but fortunately it is plastic and replaceable. Hard to say for sure based on the pictures, but it does not look like the front spoiler has a separate lower piece that can be removed and replaced when it gets scuffed up. On the other hand, I suppose you can buy the optional nose lift which was not available for the 991.1. I also noted that there is no third radiator in the middle, likely due to the smaller engine. Looks like a sweet ride but I'm holding on to my naturally aspirated GTS.

If the turbos are bigger on the GTS. Would a power kit just up the boost on the S?or maybe it's a different option all together. To me that seems like it would further put some gap between the two to warrant a price premium.

A Powerkit would. But GTS owners are typically in love with the whole package. Theres a few plug in powerkits available. TECHART gives a 60HP jump.

Looks great - the red and black works so well.

My GR CS2 arrives in three weeks time - gloss black wheels, PDLS plus in black, de-badged with the exception of Porsche 911 in black on the trunk, glass sun roof - you guessed it in black, PSE, PDK and SC - just missing the wide body and a few horses (nearly got it right - I just copied the design of my 981 GTS)

As a current 991 4GTS owner with a C4S on order for march this troubles me. Really don't know if I should stick with current order or try for new GTS. Really don't like the current GTS wheels on mine was hoping they'd change. The march delivery would probably be extended too.

Changing wheels is an easy mod for a lot less money then flipping a relatively new car. Other than wheels why flip a .1 GTS for a .2 C4S? If you were committed to a new 911 the new GTS would be difficult to pass up. I would have to drive one first to see if the turbo lag delta would be an issue. It increased from base to S so I assume the delta would continue to the GTS as they all share the same engine. The bigger the turbos the more the lag.

My new 991.2 C2S arrives at the end of the month. I went a little nuts with the options as I have never specced a new Porsche before (I have had two new ones from dealer stock in the past but never built specifically for me). I knew the GTS was imminent but I wanted a true daily driver and the C2S just ticks all the boxes for that. That's not to say the GTS isn't a daily - I just think the C2S is all the car/power I will need. Porsche are super clever with their marketing and creating FOMO for their customers! My friend had the 997 GTS and it was a beauty (he regrets selling it every day) - I personally don't get on with the alcantara for a daily car - I know that you can spec leather but to me the GTS should maintain that sporting look with all the suggested trimmings. One of the biggest questions is the new torque range and it's impossible to quantify without actually driving the thing - I suspect however that peak torque coming in at 1750rpm rather than 2150rpm on the GTS will again be better for how I'm going to use the car. My last new Porsche was the Sport Classic which just ended up being an asset and not a driver. I'm really looking forward to having a perfectly specced (for me at least) car that I don't get fussy about and drive every day, including track days at the weekends.

It's the old question again; is this the right timing to buy an existing model??
Because it's the "special" GTS version?

It is a big committment of money, and wonder am I just buying into Porsche marketing?
Or can I justify by thinking... it's another long 4-5 years till next GTS?
I Ordered a 991.2 December 2015, took delivery April 2016 and have been enjoying the car since then. If I waited for the GTS, I would have forgone at least one year of driving.
The 991.2 GTS has a LOT of nice features and integration including Gloss exhaust pipes (I could only get Matt Black) along with a Track package for the SC (Can I get a software upgrade?).
I would not wait for the 992, it's a long way off unless you already have a 991.2-Richard
