Nice work on the trim!!
One thing I've noticed on American cars, when the trim fades, it begins to rust. I suspect that could happen here, also - but not on yours. Good save

Wow...this makes me want a white OB 928. Love how sharp it looks with the black trim details refreshed. Seems like most of the planets aligned for you on this find and buy. Great job. Hope to see it at Frenzy.

They really did Michael. I figure for what I paid for just the cosmetics it was a steal even assuming the engine and many other mechanical bits needed work. Come to find over $40,000 in receipts in the car from the last ten years!! Still need to get the AC working but it runs like a top!

I used a paint prep wax and grease remover spray and immediately wiped it off (per instructions) I did this 2 times . Then using the blue tape I overlapped the trim to be painted just slightly and the cut it with a razor blade making sure it was angled AT the trim piece itself ever so slightly and tucked the tinyest hint of a lap down away from the trim. The corner pieces can be lifted slightly and I slid the tape under with a sawing type motion. Then I painted with SEM trim paint in satin black "trim Black 39143"

Looks great, good job! Strange how your door locks are black, too. Should be chrome. Car looks great though and love the white also.
And, I believe the euro question was from a spambot.
Brian.

I may release the unfortunate name of my '78 5- speed.
I was trying to come up with a name for my White/Green (with PO dyed cork-ish seats) '78 US #412 5-speed. I did not want to force it and wanted to see what came to me in time. Before I had settled on something, my significant other started calling her something that she came up with based on the white outside and peanut butter colored seats. I did not like said name and fought it for some time. I tried to fight it!,... Really I did! Before you know it, I was using the same name!! DAMMIT! Much to my chagrin it is now christened and has a name that has stuck. My hopes of something like White Buffalo, Spirit, Snow-blind, or Avalanche, Something that that conjures up images of power, strength or mysticism are dashed. Do not judge me. I am not sure I am prepared to release said name as I fear I may loose my "man card" or 928 card and be forced to sell it to one of you at a deep discount as a penalty for such a crime. If someone is able to guess the name I will confirm it.
This is the car I purchased at auction back in March. thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-tomorrow.html
Another thread I started which may have redundant info and pictures https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...9-related.html
Upon first inspection he coolant was leaking from somewhere by the drivers side radiator, the fuel lines looked original, and it still had aluminum ball joints. I though the front had been hit or was miss aligned, but that turned out to be because it was recently on a lift. The tires and alignment quickly settled in. Some panels had been replaced and painted in the original GP white. The very early Euro side marker-less fenders were a curiosity and I can tell one was originally a goldish bronze color.
It turns out this car has aftermarket ANSA exhaust (I think). The aftermarket dual fans had pushed the radiator hose into the power steering belt causing the leak. I replaced that hose and zip tied it back and all is good. I installed two of Greg Browns fuel lines changed the oil and aside from some navigable but clunky shifting and odd clunking and grabbing sounds of the clutch pedal, it runs great.
It turns out the car came with a folder from the previous owner who had put $45,000 into this car since he acquired it in 2006!! It also had a working original and functioning radio, stainless locking gas cap and unused and hopefully original "Car of The Year" sticker along with some old 928 magazines.
This owner had the following NEW parts done during his ownership:
Clutch
Water pump (probably need a new one based on time, but it was only 7k ago)
Teflon valve stem guides/springs
All sorts of seals and gaskets except the OPG (it is seeping) no drips though
Fuel injectors and seals
Coil, distributor and wires
Cam cover gaskets
Rebuilt fuel distributor
New hood insulation
Rotors and pads
And many other tid-bits
Partial list of things to do are:
Fix A/C and vacuum leak behind HVAC control's (I hear it hissing)
Install new motor mounts and oil pan gasket
Steel Ball joints
Diagnose slight miss/stumble right around 2,200 RPM's
I love this car and I am very lucky to have it. Thank you all for such a great group of forum members. Hopefully I will not get a beat-down IF I decide to release it's name to the general public.
Any Guesses?
