Help! My 996 cab just broke down in an intersection
So I told him politely to please get it done already. Anyhow, he should get it over tomorrow.
The new shop didn't have a chance to touch the car today, but he's gonna check his theorems out tomorrow.
Crazy story. I hope you get it sorted out. I've known Gabe for several years and he's always had a solid reputation in the NC Porsche world so you are in good hands.

As far as the transmission, if he doesn't get it there in a few days I'm going to rent a pickup and get it on my next day off
B3, it's awesome to see how proud you are of your dads. A recent study showed that children raised in unconventional families are just as intelligent and well-adjusted as the children in "customary" homes.
Wow... Just read the whole story, truly unfortunate. Here I was thinking my transmission issues were bad. (See: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...tiptronic.html)
Anyway, hoping you end up with a simple fix like mine needed, KK. The highly regarded Porsche indie "specialist" I had taken my 996 to assured me they would not be like the dealer and just spring on suggesting a new trans - Unfortunately, after he assured me and knew for a fact that it was internal - he did exactly that. It always pays to do your research and get a second opinion, which it looks like you are doing.
The truth is, a very small percentage of 996's have auto. While it is a ZF product used in other German vehicles, I get the sense that mechanics just don't have the desire or know-how to do a repair on these things.
Fingers crossed for you. Keep the updates coming.
