I just tried this with little success. It even returned a thread with *none* of the search terms!

Do the main "search" and the "search this forum" use different engines? I only tried the "search this forum".

THIS is a good point. I also had trouble searching in just one particular sub-forum.

OR
Place the phrase in quotation marks
"alloy wheels low profile"

I will pass on the feedback to our developer, and we will work out a solution, in the mean time, I hope that gets you by!

Thankyou,
Adrian

Hello Adrian,

I tried both ''HVAC control head led upgrade'' and +HVAC +control +head +led +upgrade in the 928 forum but the search results show threads based OR not based on AND.

I was able to use quotation marks with some success in my searches yesterday.

A future enhancement: add the ability to search with a little bit more sophisticated logic. Example would be 1984 & intake & polished. That string, three keywords connected by the ampersand, should only return results that include those keywords. Such would make the search function extremely powerful and really be a service to us DIY guys!. Please consider it!

I really hope you can address this because it truly makes the search function practically useless.

Like Modian said, a way to specify AND or OR would work. Best would be simply revert back to AND.
+1

I tried the suggestion of using the plus sign but that didn't work

Just a thought to build on this (forgive me if noted prior).

It would be nice to be able to search on multiple terms with the AND logic as noted above.

I might also suggest it would be nice to request/check box that all of those terms are included in a single post within the thread. I find I get a lot of non-relevant returns when the sum of the search terms are scattered throughout the thread. This is especially true when there are common terms included in the search.

Added suggestion would be to have an option to exclude signature lines. Not sure if search does this now or not.

Search for me is pulling up nothing but recent posts, not related to what I am searching for.

I'm having the same problem. The words I use in the search seem to do nothing. I just get recient posts that have nothing to do with what I'm searching on. Search pretty much doesn't work.

Using OR in the search is useless. It is working just as crappy as it was before. I thought it was using AND there for a minute and was rather jazzed.

When searching by user name it comes up w/threads started by that user, not "search entire post" which is checked.

I tried to find Joke of the Day and got endless pages of normal stuff with no rhyme or reason
