- Almost everybody hated the new interface
- Almost everybody didn't want you changing their defaults.
- Almost everybody wanted to keep the old interface.
- Almost everybody didn't want to be beta testing new code without 'opting in'.
IB's response? Well, we will change the default anyway, and once again, eliminate the old skin. Because, you know, it's kind of like the old default, and to heck with what the user community actually wants...
Please fix bugs instead of (negatively) tweaking the interface!

Please explain why this is a more user-friendly layout for "Mobile Browsing" on a 13" screen.

The intention of updating the site and deprecating the old skin is not simply to upset everyone. After reading the feedback, we went back and mirrored the old site as best we could and will continue to tweak if things are not working as desired.
This new style has completely updated code on the front-end to replace the ancient html from the old style that hadn't had a major overhaul since the 90s.
All of this is to make way for a new (and working) marketplace, the ability to drag and drop attachments in the uploader, and several more actual improvements to community issues that have been complaints for some time.

Why do these companies ignore what their customers want and force changes that only benefit them and not the user?
Maybe IB needs to re-read these 5 pages of reviews. It sucks. No one wants the change except Jim Bob in IT. Put it back to the way it was. It's worked just fine for 16 years, no need to change it now.

My suggestion is to look at every element of your new interface on every device you can get your hands on, and everywhere you see lots of blank white space or screen real estate dedicated to anything other than CONTENT, try and minimize those elements.
The page I'm writing this reply on is a perfect example... A tiny portion of the screen actually used for the important task, CREATING CONTENT, with TONS of wasted white space and huge smiley and icon boxes
increasing zoom level helps a little bit, but makes the garbage smiley and icon boxes even BIGGER. Make those stupid icon boxes as SMALL AS POSSIBLE with MORE SPACE FOR CONTENT.

if you go to user control panel, settings and options, edit options and go to the bottom of the page and change the forum skin from forum default to classic next gen it gets rid of it
if you use the next gen 2 it enables it again
who in the world finds this silly layout useful?

Nextgen classic vs. previous classic is what the last few posts have been discussing....

So, this is how it goes, is it?
Quite honestly, right now you act as if there are no other Porsche forums. Oh, wait.
BTW, quick reply box under a thread is missing right now.
- Employee review comes up.
- Something needs to be changed, do a highly visible project.
- Users hate change.
- Engineer loves their job, though. Too bad.
- Change has to go in, otherwise it's bad for the review.
- "Data-driven Decision(tm)".
- Just doesn't say what data and what it said.
