Sure you can. There are boosted air cooled beetles out there. They are more outlaw than your anemic 356.

They even sell kits that can't be that difficult to make it fit to your engine. Won't me more difficult that making it from scratch like I did.

Not a fan of the black wheels, but what REALLY matters is that you like it. Great build, great outlaw...no 356 can be ricer

Amazing transformation. Can't beleive it's the same car........totally OUTLAW! That's it, I'm painting the spare tire black on the 928 too.
