I've got a Bursch on the 72. It sure does sound nice. Mine isn't rusty, but the factory paint came off really quickly, after a few heat cycles. I painted it again a couple times with high-temp paint, but it kept coming off and I just left it plain.

No...Less airflow with filters. Probably will do filters when we build the new big engine as it will have lots of power and I don't want to drop tons of money on a new engine and have it sucking in dirt .

If the filters are properly sized, there will not be an airflow restriction.

One dusty road and the rings will become sandpaper.

It's not like you'll notice the difference and/or stoplight racing this. Besides, air filters rarely flow less than these anemic motors anyway. I know. I've have more than my fair share of air cooled flat fours!
