I got taped once for $125, what a waste.
The corvette guys have a retractable plate, is there one that fits P-cars?

+1. I pass cops almost everyday where I live, and they seem more interested in catching speeders than anything else. If I get pulled over, i'll pay the fine.

+1, Cops in my neck of the woods are far more concerned catching those racing down residential roads in the their '82 F350 vs riced out '98 Civic's...
I have 'form fitted' my license plate just in-case I need to do a quick install...I might just run it full-time...

Same law here in New York--I've never been stopped just for not having the plate, but other times when I've been ticketed for something else they nailed me for that too. Been asked at the border also but never ticketed.....

I found a plate holder for my Mini that screws into the front tow hook socket so no drilling--don't know if such a thing exists for Porsches.

Yea... it's a stupid law imo. Nonetheless, I run a tow-hook mounted front plate just to not be bothered.

Who said anything about driving over the speed limit.

there are lots of laws that have been around for over 100 years, they are supposed to enforce laws that make economic sense to enforce, and provide benefit to the public. Front license plate enforcement does not make any sense nor benefit the public in any way. When cars leave the scene of a crime they don;t drive backwards

Don't get the hand wave but thanks- must be nice to lead an unexplained life...what a lemming. Must be nice to simply obey and never question anything in life.

I have a front plate on my 991 turbo as its the car I use 99% of the time, and it will be traded in a few years so not passionate about it and don't want the hassle of being pulled over on a weekly basis. But there is no chance in hell in drilling the front bumper on my PTS GT4 that i plan to keeping forever - did I mention the GT4 is a manual! And it's not going to be a dated law or an overpaid and unionized security guard that is gonna get me to drill my front bumper - happy to pay $125 Canadian - that's way less than $100 American

I went with a tow hook mod, but all the same my son has been driving his Focus ST without a front plate for a year and the only time he has an issue is at the gas pumps.

Pags - the 993 is my second favourite P car after the 964 - if I ever get so lucky as to own one I don't think I'd have the courage to drill the front fender on such an incredible car.

As much as I enjoy my p-cars they are just objects, 2 holes in the front bumper for a plate bracket is of zero importance to me. I prefer to spend the $125 saved on my family instead of worrying about how others perceive the flowing lines of the front bumper.

I can respect that point of view - but my P cars are borderline family

Pls tell me your 993 is manual - how long have you had it?

Why of course it is 4 years of ownership this Spring and I have enjoyed every second of it. Highly recommend you add one to the fleet. Hands down the best car I have ever owned both from a driving sensation standpoint and reliability. Come on Spring!

No need to drill or use the tow hook just Velcro the plate on. That's what exotic car owners do if there isn't a spot to mount the plate

whoever invented putting velcro on the front plate should get a Nobel prize for that. (double intentional ironybtw).
