The flu may make ya sick but it's unlikely to kill you. A trip to the hospital is another thing. Please don't shoot the messenger ie me or The Post but the front page headlines on Saturday were: "MEDICAL ERRORS. About 70,000 patients a year experience serious - preventable - injury as a result of medical treatment. Up to 23,000 actually die." I did not include the link 'cause you really don't want to know!

I was concerned knowing that my daughter became ill three days following her BF and I thought I might be next. So far so good. Both presented the same symptoms and both made amazing recoveries in about 24 hours and other than no appetite and fatigue both are doing well.

Measles party anyone? And I thought Gwyneth Paltrow was a flake. Finally found this article explaining why vaccinating against childhood maladies is counterproductive....basically because they don't work well enough.

OK, I'm done.

I heard a comedy skit that explained why we humans shouldn't bother going to an MD and instead should go directly to a Vet instead. After all, and I can attest to this, they aren't for a moment stymied by species. It doesn't matter if it's a dog a cat, a Geko, a Budgie, or Guinea pig. So I'm going to ask our Vet if my kid should be vaccinated. Obviously she is over qualified but every bit of advice is welcome as MDs know diddly on the matter.

Not to mention you can get an appointment tomorrow. Good enough for thousands of criminals.

In this particular year the vaccine was not very effective . However, in most years it is. There are always corner cases, but best to go with the stats. You are, in most years, clearly less likely to get flu if you get the shot.

I had a history of pneumonia until I got the pneumonia vaccine, for instance . Amazing stuff solved the problem.

Mr. Crosby had received all of his vaccinations as a child and, as recently as a year ago, had a further booster shot in advance of playing for Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Tests run on all of the Penguin players in early December showed Mr. Crosby had among the highest resistance levels for the mumps and yet, somehow, he contracted the illness anyway – a diagnosis confirmed by the CDC on the weekend after they’d received a DNA sample from the team.

How could such a thing happen?

“That’s why it came as a bit of a surprise to us – because every indication was he was well-protected from the disease,” Dr. Vyas said.

I rarely get sick, but the flu kicked my a$$ yesterday-never been so sick.
Went to bed feeling great, woke up 5am with cold sweats and all the 'taps' fully open , gets better/livable after about 12hours...still feeling some effects now.
I don't use meds, whenever possible.

[QUOTE=Ronan;11972396]In this particular year the vaccine was not very effective

“Studies in both the United States and Canada show the vaccine designed to fight the H3N2 virus this season was 99% ineffective."

By all means get the flu shot if you feel like you need some extra aluminum and mercury in your system….
