Default custom oil bucket

The little girl had her oil changed last week. She was very happy.
When everyone screamed to get a BIG bucket- I now get it (felt like Niagara Falls going thru a garden hose).
This week at crappy tire, the rubber maid tubs are on sale at half price.
$5 for a 64L.
So I have been busy constructing oil bucket that allows me to capture and easily measure the oil.
Take a look at the photos.
Leveled off the tub, and poured 500mL & 1L water.
Using my permanent Sharpie ( love these things- just don't let your 3 yr old have one-it will be the biggest mistake of the year) I easily marked the tub.
next cut out the lid and attached screen (its a wire mesh for floor tiles- if you live in Toronto everyone and their brother is under renovation so its really easy to get one of these).
Purchased a oil wrench from Mercedes Benz for $36- really high quality and fits like a glove.
Now for a couple of Grolsch!

You need a lift to change your oil! lol

How do you pour in back into the 5 liter container?

I think the black flat ones at CTC work great and you can hang them on the wall.

But, you did a great job on the one you made!

why do you need to measure the volume?
and how do you pour the oil out of that massive container with the oil swishing around?

I need a lift to change YOUR oil so I can charge you a ridiculous amount of money... LOL In all reality I do my own oil changes on the driveway floor with no jacks or stands in about 15 min... The secret is out! I have done 996, 997 various other cars this way ... hoist is easier but takes longer...

The 911 up to 89 is the easiest car to change oil in history i think . Like Jonathon it takes me about 15 minutes , but i stretch it into an hour for the pure enjoyment ..

I drive it around to get it warmed up, pull into the garage , stick the pan under and its one 15mm and one 17mm plug.. change the filter up top while its draining , put plugs back and refill..

no jacks , lifts , covers , special tools , or mess...

Love the early cars... Unless you've lowered the crap out of it, even then it's still not too bad. I can just get a 4" drain pan under my plug, getting the nut out without dropping it in is the hardest part.

Clive how is your rebuild coming? Other Jonathan was telling me about it and I wanted to hear from you

- do you need a hand with anything? Cam timing? Need any special tools?

Let me know

guys, truthfully i had a couple of extra beers after the 1st oil change, so i decided to build it just for something to do.

i collect the old oil and put it into a 5 gallon pail which i drop off at crappy tire.
there is no requirement to measure the collected oil, but from a mtce point of view, i can easily measure my oil capacity.
The next oil change is going to be a breeze.

Also, I did come across something rather unique. when draining the oil tank with a 19mm socket, i had to use a 27mm open wrench to counteract the forces. Is that for all porsches or just the turbos?

Anyways, it was a piece of cake.

Yep, been using one of these for 10 years now, still on the first one:

5 min. for oil tank drain, 10 for engine sump drain, change the filter while I'm waiting, fill it up with new oil. 15 minutes, no jacking needed. I wish the Honda were that easy.

I use a 19 cm high "low profile" 17 liter capacity recycling box. The corners are even molded to pour easily.

The best part? It was cheap!
