Keep up the project updates! I remember seeing this car on Kijiji, I think it was on there for a while. Well done in snapping it up! I dropped in on Restoration Design last summer and was impressed with the quality and variety of their parts. Being a Tool and Die maker, I was quite interested in their tooling.
They are doing a great job and it's nice to have such a resource here in Ontario.

Check out the awesome work done by Alex @ Restoration Design. 92 hrs of labour went into this so far. During the previous restoration attempts, the floor was patched up in multiple places. It had no rust but looked horrible, so I decided to replace the entire floor. The rear seat area was really bad, you can see the difference now. The rear parcel shelf had to be replaced, though it wasn't too bad. The rusted battery area was replaced too. The rear left quarter panel was replaced during the last restoration (the only non original panel on the car). Back then all the weld joints were done perfectly except the one at the bottom of the left C pillar. They just couldn't get the right curve shape i guess. That is the only area that we found bondo. It could have been left as is, but I didn't want any of that crap on my car, so Alex cut out a section and got the curve just about right. There is just little bit of surface rust remaining here and there that will be addressed at the body shop.
Everyone at Leon's Autobody was really impressed with the welds and overall work done by Mike and his crew. Leon's only uses Glasurit paints and clears. For this car the painter suggested going single stage to get the factory paint look. We will discuss this at length after the holidays.
Speaking of which, Merry Christmas, Y'all! Enjoy the pics.

Body work has finally begun. Looks really good so far. The shop employees continue to be impressed with the overall condition of a 46 year old vehicle. Comparing to his Alfa, the shop owner said its night and day. Alfas do rust a lot though. Brent promised to open up the motor this week. I am thinking of keeping it stock. Now I need to start looking for a good (but reasonably priced) trim shop. Any recommendations?

Default FEBRUARY UPDATE

The biggest setback is that my boys lost interest. I can't blame them, it's not fun at the moment for them.

The good news is that things are moving slowly but surely:
The shell, doors, rear lid and hood have black undercoat on the outside only at the moment. Lots of work still ahead. I am doing a lot of research on the colour, as I want to "hit it just right" with this hard-to-duplicate Aga Blau. Its going to be a single stage Glazurit, which I understand was the OEM supplier of this paint at the time. Aga Blau is supposed to be a dark pastel blue. I can't wait to see it all over the car.
Meanwhile, Brent FINALLY took apart the motor, which is not original and I knew that. But what I didn't know is that I have a 912 motor with OEM Super 90 heads in it. Kaching! No wonder it was burning rubber in first gear last summer. So, what that all means is that I have heads that are thicker and can be taken to 1675cc. Sounds much better than going to a 1720cc aftermarket kit. Brent is sending the heads to Reno, Nevada to get that done. I decided to keep stock carbs, as they are considered to be as good as Webers if tuned properly and I get to keep a stock look.
Oh, yeah I forgot, all tin has been successfully powerdercoated black. And interior is going in to the shop next week.

Thats it for now.

P.S. Arnaud, I will let you know in advance before the car is ready, so you can grow your nails out

I just went over the thread and realized I never thanked everyone for their interest, wishes and advices. My bad, guys.
That's a bit of trolling on my part

I will go through a similar process with my 912... first replacement metal part ordered from Restoration Design...front half floor pan... and then I need to order the rear deck shelf... and the right outer rocker panel... and I have to build the engine because the one in the car was toast, and.. and... and...
