Default Winter Storage

Good day all.

Well for me being a newbie in the Porsche world, I am about to put her away for the season and I really am new on what to do to store it.

I've been told a lot of things and so far this is my plan:

Stabilizer for the fuel
Disconnect the battery
Possible put an old turkey roast pan under the engine to collect oil.

If there is anything I am missing or you strongly feel I need to do, I would like to hear from you. Thanks all.

My routine is;
wash(nice to start the spring with a clean car)
top up fuel and add stabilizer
inflate tires to 50psi
battery tender
park on 4 rigid floor tiles (seems to help a bit with flat spotting)
cover
suspend insurance
start collecting parts for spring mods

Here's mine for this weekend
Stabilizer in 1st, then fill the tank and drive it a bit.
Oil change
Wash, wax & complete detail. In & out
I don't over inflate the tire as I park in on rubber mats in a covered garage
Dri-Z-Air pellets in the car
Plug in the battery minder
Cover it and done

I don't disconnect the battery as I 'm not interested in reprogramming everything in the spring.
Also, I don't lock the car because then the car lock's out the remote after 7 days.
You can use blue or pink Styrofoam sheet to park on as they will compress to help with the flat spotting as well.

i stabilize, fill and drive so that it's well mixed and run through the entire fuel system.
I used to stabilize my snowmobiles without running the motors and would still have gummed up carbs because the fuel in the carbs was not treated.

Battery tender is a must. Disconnecting the battery without a tender will just run i down flat, and it may not accept a charge again. That happened to me last year while I was working on the car. Look for sales on tenders from Canadian Tire etc.

Park on the CT floor mats rather than over-inflating. There's a thread on this. I don't cover my car because I like to visit the Mistress while she sleeps. Also, mice like warm dark places and it doesn't matter where your garage is, there will be mice. I also surround Her Highness with mouse traps loaded with sunflower seeds. Gets 'em every time.

in addition to above, fill it up with Shell 91 as it has no ethanol in it, or use Stabil Marine formula as it helps against the effects of ethanol on older style fuel lines/injectors/etc.

If there any possibility of mice climbing up, steel wool in the tail pipe stops the buggers.

All of the above. I also leave the car in neutral without the handbrake being on. I usually move the car back an forth a foot or so every week. I also do not start the car at all until spring.

Sell the car and get another one in the spring, saves all the hassles associated with storage.

This way you can keep your DD in the garage without having to clear off the two feet of snow each time it snows.

Quick question...my car has a 3/4 tank of Petro 94 Octane and I know the tank of gas won't be completed before next weekend storage.
So is it okay if just top it off with 94 Octane and add the Sta-bill Marine formula1 for the Ethanol and the Sta-Bill Fuel additive treatment all at once, run the car a little bit than store it?
I knew I should have put 91 on last weeks fill up.....
Also where can I buy the Dri-Z Air Pellets?
Do guys keep your window a little bit open?
I was even told told leave the car in reverse gear with no emergence brake?

Canadian Tire, in the household cleaner/ air fresher section you'll find an assortment of chemical dehumidifiers. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/da...l#.UnPTviR5Fcw

+1 on the handbrake.
I chock the wheels
I leave the window open a crack because I feed the minder cable through it.
Personal preference but I din want the rubber door seals to retain the shape of the power codr when closed on it.

The more humane way of preventing unwanted visitors is to place moth ***** around the perimeter of the car. You could add them anywhere really. Cedar scented ones won't smell like a grandma's been driving your car.
I also use a fresh box of baking soda in the car and leave the car windows cracked open to breath. This prevents odor from building up.

When everyone says battery tender, are you referring to a battery charger to keep the charge of the battery or something completely different?

A battery maintainer. Completely different than a charger. Don't use a charger.
