It's a pig
Comparing the Z06 to the 996 Turbo bang for the buck is an interesting conversation. While down at the Glen last month with a bunch of guys with Z06s, I asked how many of them had replaced a motor since starting to track their cars. All except one put their hand up (6 in total). And two guys have done it more then once! So when you think about operating costs, I think we pay more for individual parts, but I have yet to meet a 996 Turbo owner that has had to replace a motor...
I thought you got a C6 Z06? butt on it is nice, I like the C6 wide body. But the C5 is just horrible.
The C5Z looks like crap...? News to me

It's still one of the best corvette's GM has ever produced and is without a doubt, best bang for the buck value on the used car market bar none.
If I had time to drive 2 toys I would be hanging onto my Z, with simple tires and suspension it gives car 2-6x it's price fits on the track... ask me how I know

I'm not going to comment about the C5 looks, but can say the handling and grunt of the C5 Z is pretty awesome. I was a passenger with the lead instructor at Circuit Mt Tremblant, Very Impressive. Can't speak for reliability but bang for buck track car, hard to beat. That being said a 996 TT for another 10-15k, has massive upside potential to the point where 10k in mods and you're making current high performance and $ sports cars Very Nervous!
Being the prior owner of Jumpers car, what I can say that Courtney at EU Autowerks setup and track preparation of that car is second to none!
Link below to one of my videos from 2010 in the 996TT at Mosport, gets interesting around the 4 min mark. Good comparisons to some of the cars mentioned in this thread. Unfortunately the video is from the pre go pro era...

Congrats, I might see 24 if no a/c but 23 is normal for those type of long trips. 25 is really good, similar to what my na 3.6 does.

Video looks fine to me, that Turbo S has grunt. They are quicker on the straights but they are much heavier and can't corner like the 996tt.
