Default need your advise re :purchase GT3

Its been a while i have not posted.

After test driving the 991S and 997GTS last summer the 997.1TT stole my heart..

Coming from an 06 S and 01 C2 the turbo was the best choice in moving up for fun factor.

at the end of the season i was still in love with the turbo's looks but missing the "more linear" powerband and RWD of the 997.1 S

I test drove a GT3 ( It sold last week ). i fell in love all over again...

the question is if i am ready to spend 120k for a 2010 GT3 with 4,500km should i spend more and get a GT3RS now or wait ...

I will miss the posh interior of my TT and the ride quality for long trips.. but i am madly in love with the GT3...

suggestions ?

I need to move quickly..

I don't know if i am allowed to post a link .. they are keeping the car for me till Friday pm.

My turbo will be for sale but i think they have a buyer on the west coast.

Keep in mind that GT3/2 are not built for winters. 3 year rust warranty on them.
Any of the GT3's now has an amazing engine. Though the 991S is equal/faster at the track with the same tires. The RS.2 will be sought after by purists since the new GT3's will get the new cheaper dfi engine withs it's electronic wizardries and it was the last (with exception to the 4.0) and very low production numbers compared to the GT3.

I think the RS will not depreciate as much as the GT3 will and I think being the last mezger engine will keep it there when the new RS comes out.

Personally if I could buy, it would be the RS.2 for a keeper, probably with Porsche's new path I'll never look at another Porsche after that.

thanks ! I dont drive my pcars in winter. except the cayenne ( sold ).

So the GT3RS will not depreciate as much as a GT3 .. that is a good point to remember.

GT3RS if you can pull it. Don't compromise unless you have to, and get what you really want

RS will have less depreciation than .2 GT3. Harder core for the street with the LWFW and shorter gears. Bucket seats less practical for daily use. Have to wrap your head around the giant wing and boy racer looks, tends to be polarizing ( I love it). If you mainly street, you may prefer a slightly more comfortable package which is the GT3. For track and collectability it's the RS.

I think they will all depreciate frankly, though the RS does depreciate a little less. It will surely take a hit when the 991RS comes to market...always happens. However, the gen2 RS is quite a civilized car with a bit more power than the regular GT3. There are a couple of options to think about:

(1) Front lift.
The car is very low and I have to change the splitter on my .1RS annually due to scrapes. The gen.2 car had an optional front lift that avoids this.

(2) Ceramic brakes.
There is an endless debate on this. Short version is that the steels works very well and many track enthusiasts prefer them (they are very rarely specified on domestic German cars). On the other hand. ceramics have more stopping power, are MUCH quieter, and do not spew brake dust all over the wheels. On my .2 RS the red wheels need constant cleaning. Ceramics were a very expensive option when the car was new so worth thinking about. No advice, just what you prefer. I went with steels.

991 new car prices have gone up since the 997. I think smart marketing so the 997 used market didn't take a huge hit. 996 GT3 prices are 45-50k so there is not much room for newer models to fall. Yes they all go down but I wouldn't count on them dropping too far, though I'd greedily like to see them more affordable for my own reasons. The 997.1 RS are still commanding a fair price 90-115k and there just ain't that many on the market to buy and they go fast when they are.

The only modern Porsche I would consider would be a GT3 RS. Go for the 4.0 if you can.

thanks guys.. (and kris ) for writing ..
The grey one is sold ..

As for the GT3 : I just tried the bucket seats and the angle is not for my driving style !!

If i move ahead with the purchase : either i change the seats - find a washer fix to change the angle with the bucket seats - get used to a canted seat and change my driving style - or get standard sport seats ( and sell the bucket ones ). Not what i expected to happen today..
