Torin Black Jack
Picked up a Torin 2.5 ton aluminum race jack from costco tonight - $99 + tax in store.
The website advertises it as a "2.5 ton aluminum racing jack". When I got to the store the box said "Torin black jack". I doubled checked the stock sku and model #. They matched so I bought it.
Took it out of the box and just slid it under the lowered P-car (997 w/ HR lowering springs) to see if it fits and it did - no problem! I didn't actually get to jack up the car as there isn't enough room in my single car garage and I was too lazy to take the car out at 10:00 pm.
Seems like a pretty good little jack - dual piston, 7 strokes to max lift, protector on the handle and strong enough to handle the Infiniti SUV if I ever have to jack that up Not so sure about their claim of it being light weight - I definitely won't be lugging it back and forth to the track
I can bring it out this Saturday if anyone is interested in seeing if it fits under their lowered car.
Here are the specs
Features:
Capacity: 2.5 tons
Minimum height: 9.9 cm (3.9 in.)
Maximum height: 46 cm (18.1 in.)
Built tough with aluminium and steel
Fast action with dual-lifting pistons
Lightweight for easy carrying and mobility
Specifications:
Dimensions (L x W x H):
65 cm x 29.2 cm x 17 cm
(25.6 in. x 11.5 in. x 6.7 in.)
Weight: 26.4 kg (58.2 lb.)

+1 Adam , you can't do too much better, it's a keeper at that price. I saw it at Cosco and was tempted but sadly I don't need a 4th floor jack. Dual pistons all the way... .

Looks just like the one i picked up from Cdn Tire last week ... It was on sale for $129.00 from $235 .00
The one from Costco is definitely a good buy !
Cheers !

Carefull... They are great jacks for the price... but always use a jackstand with these. I have had 2 seperate Torin units blow a seal while loaded. (Sounds like a Penguin joke... I know)
Very easy to fix however, so still worth it IMHO.

I was hoping for a 3 year like we talked about so that's one of the first things I looked up. The manual says 1 year - they get you every time!! :

I personally would never use a jack like that; I only use the ones with a single long wheel at the lowpoint. I had a michelin one completely fold on me in the past; it was on a flat cement shop floor (lucky the wheels were put on the car at the time)
I use the aluminum one and half tonne from princess auto;
it goes on sale regularly for $80

Audi A6, and it was my mechanic in his new shop (a few years ago) before he had his hoists installed. so it was on a flat cement floor by a Porsche Technician. this is why I caution anyone using this style of jack.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll pass on buying this one.
Hey Turbo Dan.... Any chance I can come by today to borrow a jack for two hours?
I need to strap on the new wheels.
