Default PPI and paint gauge...

My brother is looking at a car in Montreal. Can you recomend the best place to get an extensive PPI done there. Also, do you have/know where I can borrow/rent a paint gauge in Toronto or Montreal?

Thanks a lot, fellas.

Paint guages are expensive - $500 or $600. We buy them at the auction. No idea where you'd get them retail.

I have an elcometer paint meter, but I cannot lend it out. PM me if you want to meet up for me to check a car for you.

it measures the thickness of the paint (shows body work, repaint etc)
my was close to $700. you can get no name ones on ebay (made in China) for much cheaper but not sure you can rely on them.

Thanks Danny, but the car is in Montreal. I've been planning on buying one for years. Just never got around to it and on Monday we are going to Montreal for a day to see the car.

mhr, thanks for digging that up. Search didn't pull that one up for me.

Thanks Zook. I once had a PPI done at a Porsche dealer (lets not point fingers at anyone's plate frame), so no thanks.

fyi: I wouldn't spend 700 on this product as elkometer is the only industry accepted meter (also has iso rating). this is the rolls royce.
