nice license plate

I negotiated a set of 19" Pirelli winters for my 997. I jokingly call the rear tires tobaggons - 295 wide. I've been driving the car most days this winter so far. The one day we had a lot of freezing rain, I was already at work - that was a crappy drive home. Haven't had much snow to test it out in that yet.

And, btw, I love PSM. It saved me from silly mistakes that are so pronounced by having all the weight in the rear & a lot of power!!

I am curious how the 4WD feels in the snow vs. the 2WD. Hard to say without driving both with the same tires.

I would for love buy a C4, slap snows on it and drive it all winter long - my RS4 or my wife's RR take that role as daily drivers in nasty weather. I have always had a Porsche sports car - but I never once would drive them in the winter...always afraid to slide them into somthing - or others slide into me. But when I ordered my TT, I said to my wife "with the cost of this thing, and the AWD, we'll slap some snows on it and drive it all year round". Now that delivery day looms and 4cm of light snow and freezing rain are falling today...hmmm....maybe not...

But I do enjoy seeing the other guys in their units the odd time wheeling around town...they are engineered to be enjoyed all year round.

I think if you drive a modern (or even close to it) Porsche you'd be crazy NOT to drive it in winter.

You missed a spot.

And don't cover up the plate. I want to know which car not to buy in the future.

Yup. They depreciate just as fast sitting in the garage as they do covered in slush and salt. Mine looks filthy right now, but was it ever fun to drive after the 3-4cms of snow we got yesterday and before the plows ruined everything.

lol, it's your car do what you want with it. I'll mark it down "2007 997 Targa 4" in muh book so I don't buy it down the road.

I agree.

Drive it all year and get every last dollar out of that payment. The the only time that the value of a car is drastically effected is in extreme cases (showroom/accident/brutal maintenance). I figure the difference between my car and the guy who store it in the winter will come down to milage and that will only really affect the value +/- 10%.

for the $3000-$6000 difference I'd get if it was a garage queen will only pay for the first winter of payments on the car. Only makes financial sense to me to drive it for a minimum of 2 winters!

I may be wrong but it seems that only North Americians store them, the Germans drive them all year round, even the older cars.

Why not? It's just a car....can be easily replaced as there is a lot of them out there. Might as well enjoy the car as much as you can! Good on ya! I drive a BMW 330cic all year. Mass produced car.

Don't all the newer p-cars have complete undertrays to protect them from the salt/sand?
