Frt is freight or shipping and DRLs are daytime running lights.

So I stopped in at Autowerks today to speak to Dominic about putting heating plumbing into Ruby, and I poked my head around the corner.

Dominic let me look at your new ride (no touching, fondling or groping allowed). I stuck my head in.... man oh man.... It is BRAND new. It's the nicest 993 I've seen since the late 90's.

I'm so jealous....

Again, nice work.

Thanks James...I'm glad you got to see it...unfortunately it was dirty as I had to drive it up in the rain. I really like Dominic and Courtney and plan on doing all of my mtce there. Dominic said that they went over the car and it is "almost flawless" which was good to hear! "Not a drop of oil anywhere" The only unexpected work was the front and back hood struts and the brake flush I requested didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped...the front system was gummed up from the old fluid, so they were going to have to break some lines to blow it out. DRL install was a little more complicated as the "relay" fix wasn't going to fly since the contacts were not in the fuse box (US car). I should have her back tomorrow and I'll post an update on my costs so far. Next I just need to get that light door ding fixed and a good polishing to remove the fine scratches and scuffs here and there. You'll have to come by James and see her when it's done

OK, just about done! Got the car back from Autowerks today. Oil change, air and pollen filters, checked the plugs (OK), checked the battery (replaced), install and balance tires (Tirerack for $1265 Cdn), safety, smog, DRL wired, flush brake system, new front and rear hood struts = $1,800. Very pleased with the experience and thought they were thorough and fair...nice peolple too! The car ran like a dream on the way home...must be the new tires and fresh service

Stopped at CTC and the clerk didn't even bother with the airbag sticker or child seat dohickey...they said, "you can't even fit a child seat back there, so I'm not worried about the bracket"...works for me! Now I just have to get the plates tomorrow and I'm all set. Total cost on the road will be just shy of $41,000. Considering I've been offered $40KUS by another 'Lister...I think I did OK

Agreed, in fact, you should invite me over, say, tomorrow around noon, since I'll be en route to Hamilton for brunch with some friends...

Regards,

Took her our for an hour today along Lakeshore to Burlington and back. I think I'm getting the hang of this

$950 frt
You got it for $950 freight on an enclosed carrier!!! That is a steal, my 996 was USD1,500 on an open carrier... I was getting quotes of $2,200 for enclosed with delivery dates of 4 to 6 weeks.

BTW love the colour. Delivered November 8, 2009.... So I know the feeling.

lets see how the RUF wheels llok.
If you still have the old tires maybe you should store with them on.
I remember my first winter with the 993, lots of sneaking in the garage and peeking.

The deal on the Rufs fell through, but I would still like to find some. I know guys around here take measures against flat spots, but to be honest, I've stored cars on their tires every winter (and usually more than one car) for over 20 years and have never, ever had a problem.

Yeah, poked around some this afternoon I've never been up close and personal with a 993, so this is a real learning experience for me. Thank goodness for Rennlist...or I would have spent an hour trying to figure out why the car wouldn't start the first time I tried to fire it up without hitting the key fob!

I'm still trying to figure out what the "hatch strut" was on my bill from yesterday. It was on there in addition to the 4 hood struts????? All I can see on the car is 2 front and 2 rear.

You should be ready for the TT in about 7 months. Say the end of June.

...flush brake system...Zedder
Mark:

It wouldn't be a bad idea to get them to flush the clutch hydraulics, too, next time it's in.

Congratulations on getting your RIV; that child seat tether attachment rule has been variously interpreted.
