I can't believe what a super deal you got... That is a beautiful car with stunningly low mileage. Congrats!

Soon you will be adding PSS9/10s, RSR/Supercups, 3-spoke steering wheel, etc. Welcome to 993 modding!!

I followed your thread on the other board Mark - you got a smoking deal on this. You cound spend 10K on mod's and still be in the money on it. Well done and enjoy.

Great deal and a beautiful car. You won't regret it. Good to know you got the trip permit. Remember the girl, as the rest of us may need your charm in the future for our trip permits.

I recognize the TFX driver as the same guy who delivered my Turbo.

TFX is the way to go, got my wife's SAAB delivered with a $600K original 34K miles 67 Cobra. Nice find, need a tint and some new wheels.

Thanks guys. I'll know how well I've done after it gets serviced on Thursday, but based on everyone's comments, it does look like I'll be about $10K ahead of the game if all goes well. I had originally set out to find a wide body or a TT, but this car was just too nice to pass up and it gives me a chance to see if I really like the 993 for more than it's looks (since I had never sat in one or driven one before I got mine) I must admit that I like the colour of this one much more than I expected to. It is gorgeous in the Sun.

That TFX driver was very nice as was the guy in your pic Jake (his name was Chevy I believe - he delivered my '70 Corvette). I've been happy with TFX overall...my only pick would be that they don't follow-up well with pick-up or delivery dates. I had to call in and ask for both after waiting with no contact from them. I've got just a little bit of charm left Receiver should you need it in the future!

Not that you have any intentions right now of selling it...but if a later date you do, let me know. I'd definitely be interested.

Zedder,

My wife would like to offer a heart-felt thank you for your Rennlist contribution, which has inevitably led me to scan ebay 993 ads night after night since I first read your post... I want a deal like this, but I think I'll be hard-pressed.

From memory of importing my 911 from Florida, fees to consider are:
1) exchange rate,
2) duty (6%),
3) GST/PST,
4) border/brokerage fees,
5) RIV Fees,
6) shipping

Is that right?

Get in line pal...I've already sent him 17 ads for a 993 Turbo... I'm trying to push things along...

Hi James...LOL! I'll give you my secret to getting a good deal on ebay...call first! Many people have very different ideas about what these cars are worth. If I see a car that has a so so ad, it's usually written by someone who is not an enthusiast like we are and therefore they usually don't value the car as high as we would. I always ask to speak with them and show that I am serious and have the cash to make a deal. Near the end of the call I politely ask if they have a price in mind for the car...just like I did with this one. I didn't haggle or counter offer, although many might have, and we struck the deal.

I'll post my total cost when all is said and done to help others out...but yes, exchange, 6.1% duty, $235 brokerage, $100 AC tax, GST, PST (on total cost with Duty), RIV $246.75, $950 frt, plus DRL's etc. My guess is that my $28K US car will cost me about $40K Cdn on the road including new ties and service work.

Can you remind me? What is frt ($950) and DRL's?
Thanks,
James
