Not sure about the price, but I am sure Greg will find that out for us.

I have the VRX pro on order probably get it in December. It is basically just the seat that does motion, bass shakers and 5.1 surround sound but with out the PC/Console and triple screen and Harman Kardon audio components.

That one pictured above. Turnkey runs 13,995 USD
They also have an even better version VRX Mach 4 which is about 11g more then that one.

$14K US? For that price I could fly to some southern locale, rent a car, pay track fees and stay at a hotel once a month all winter long!

Yes you could get about 7 events in. Though with a virtual seat your about as close to the real thing as you can get.
You can Race or Hot lap on almost any track in the world and at any time you like. You can join race leagues that run scheduled endurance races or just do a quick online races and jump from track to track.

The game console or PC hardware may need to be updated for future newer/better games but the seat won’t need to be.

I think we need a post GTG meeting at your place once you get it sorted.

FWIW - here are the units I saw last year at CES - the orange beast was nuts. It doesn't come across in this video but it could articulate like crazy. I got to try the second one - it was awesome - probably similar to what your getting.

Once it is up and running I'll have those that are interested over for a test drive. I still need to finish paying for it. Since my computer screen will be to high and I still require a computer screen on my desk. I'll also need to spring for a new dedicated LCD and stand for a single monitor setup. Can't afford the triple monitor setup.

Was thinking something like this. Fairly cheap but it will do the job.

No doubt that will be an awesome setup. Despite the cost, it would be seriously cool to have.

You have the luxury to do off-track excursion as often as you want without hurting the wallet. So, it is not that bad.

Can't wait to see Greg's setup.

!! Awesome !!

I've been debating (if I ever get the $) getting a motion seat too, but holy crap Greg I'd love to come over and witness that awesomeness!

Forza 3 demo is out on the 24th and GT5 we should be hearing from this weekm-> Tokyo Game Show. Also, Supercar Challenge for PS3 is an excellent sim.

Greg, what are some other brands you came across in your research? Any good forums?

Edit: I see the VRX uses a transducer not a hydraulic/pneumatic setup, have you tested these Greg?
Edit 2: Did you check these guys out http://www.frex.com/gp/ ?

I came across this, also another Canadian Company.
http://www.d-box.com/gaming/en/solut...gaming-series/

I am unsure of the pricing for D-Box, but I have seen reviews saying it was a $15 g seat.

I was thinking of getting a cheaper seat setup and building it on the GPK-130 platform but then you have to add the bass shaker and surround sound into the seat somehow.

Other then r-factor and iracing the game support for racing games the D-Box is small. I believe the VRX works with any console/PC with out having to need the game to be coded with support and at $5500 usd I think it is the better deal.

Here is a video of the seat

I havn't tested any of these

I've considered 3 Xbox'es, 3 computer screens next to each other, and Forza (or whichever game you prefer) as a cheap setup. Takes care of the peripheral vision issue at least. That would be less than $2k. There are some sweet simulators out there, but 15-20k? Yikes...

This setup is a lot of fun too:

That being said, I'm all for a GTG. We'll to find something to do on Saturday morning this winter anyway...
