It's more than "sooo much fun" And remember, I drive like a granny out there!

For your first time, I strongly recommend the PCA Introductory Driving School:
http://pcaucr.org/index.php/driving/...ucation/86-ids

It's not as much fun as the real thing, but it's a very good way to learn the basics, and quickly. Jumping right in to an open lapping day with no prior experience would intimidating, to say the least. Especially at a track like Mosport. But do the IDS and a couple other instructed events and you'll be ready for solo lapping, I'd think.

I did my IDE last year during July, it was raining some, good fun.
What I did find is that I enjoyed a couple instructors a bit more than others.
I was able to process the information better as they explained it.

Next year for sure i'll be out in the Box.

UCR definitely has some lousy instructors - I don't think there are really any qualifications for becoming one, other than a certain amount of experience. I could be wrong, though.

The upside is that they also have some very good instructors, and really, anyone can teach you the basics. It is definitely more fun with a good one, though. I'll never forget my first time on the track - it was at Shannonville, with Rose Blazsak as my instructor. She kept saying "go! go! go!"! So much better than first parents, then wife, etc etc always saying "go slower!"

I have to strongly disagree with that point. Learning the basics properly from day one goes along way to prevent problems on track later on. I believe that a big reason that there are bad instructors in many cases is that they didn't learn the basics properly in the first place and are now passing on their bad driving habits to another group of "trackies". I have been in the car with some "advanced" drivers and been shocked at the fundamental driving errors they make consistently, without even knowing that they are doing something wrong.

There are good Instructors with the UCR program, and bad..... but the idea that it doesn't matter since anyone can handle the newbies out there is a problem waiting to happen.

Your timing could not have been any better. BMW, Trilium Region is having a DE event on the big track at Mosport in September. They allow all types of cars including Porsches and do not require IDS (skid pad). Cost of membership is approx. $60. per year and track costs a little more at approx. $400. for the weekend. Your fee is tax deductible, they are registered as a school. Talk to Stewart Sherman, he is the registrar for the club. A number of the BMW instructors are Porsche instructors like myself. Hope that helps you get you on the track sooner rather than later....................................

Any aftermarket sway bars available for your car? Seems to be rolling more than I would expect it to...
