Car inspection complete. DRL 'fix' and restraint anchor cost me a total of $10.
A far cry of the $1200(inspection) +$400(DRL) Porsche was looking for.
Until PCNA bans there dealers of issueing recall info, or they enforce new policy with RIV, you can still bypass new rules. Be interesting to see what future brings.

Ive been a lurker on here for some time - thought I should contribute.
I bypassed the entire Porsche inspection by going through a dealer in Toronto (Unity Auto). They provided the recall letter and had RIV send me my form 2 within 12 hours.
I did not pay anywhere near $1200 - don't know how I would live with myself if I had to.

you should check with RIV. I believe they accept a letter from US dealers stating that there are not outstanding recalls with a printout from their system as back-up (as per Jamie140 post). I had my dealer in Boston do this for me and I also go a letter from PNA. If PNA won't issue the letters any more without a Canadian dealer going over the car I would simply get the U.S. dealer to give you a letter.

I didn't read all posts and maybe it has been mentioned, but Porsche Canada are not the ones that require that you get a Clearance Letter...RIV does.
So it does not matter who that letter comes from. I do believe it can be a US dealer based on people that I know who have bought cars stateside.

And very few local dealers are going to be sympathetic to your importation dilemma.

You guys know this is a very old thread - right ?
Just went through the whole process on a GT3 a few weeks ago - it was all painless DIY. PM me if you have any questions.

In October I had the dealer who performed the PPi in Florida provide the recal letter as a stipulation of the inspection. No issues and no extra cost. Things may have changed in the three years since this thread started.
